Frank Dodd Crawford B. Frank Dodd, 91, of 245 Buddy Faust Road, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. A native of Landrum, S.C., he was a son of the late John Thomas and Mae Watson Dodd. Mr. Dodd was self-employed and was of the Baptist faith. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sandy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Terry James officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Stevens Dodd; a daughter, Mitzi Shane, Crawford; six sisters, Lois Rucker, Spindale, N.C., Alice Brooks and Emily Rollins, both of Inman, S.C., Virginia Horton, Columbus, N.C., Ethel West, Lyman, S.C., and Rebecca Rhymer, Campbello, S.C.; a brother, Thomas Dodd, Lowell, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. Frances Whitworth Gantt of 3701 Dale Hollow Road, Anniston, Ala., formerly of Lavonia, died Sunday, May 9, 1999. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Gantt was a daughter of the late Henry DeWitt and Euna Mays Whitworth and was the widow of Dennis Russell Gantt. She was a retired schoolteacher, having served elementary schools of Lavonia, Toccoa, and Shoal Creek for over 36 years. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and Piedmont College, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lavonia for over 80 years, taught Sunday school, Bible school and youth groups. She was a member of the Lavonia Garden Club, Lavonia, U.D.C. Chapter 1216, and the Franklin County Retired Teachers Association. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, at the Hamby Funeral Home, Lavonia, with the Revs. Richard Bielski and Larry Finger officiating. Burial will be in the Lavonia City Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Betsy Gantt, Anniston, Ala.; a son, Thomas D. Gantt, Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Fred Johnson Jr. Athens Fred Johnson Jr. of 130 E. Carver Dr. died Thursday, May 6, 1999. Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Annie Alice and Fred Johnson Sr. He was a carpenter and was a member of Summer Hill Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at East Friendship Baptist Church, with the Revs. James Kendrick, Hugh Minor, and Mark A. Weaver officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in East Lawn. She was retired from Jefferson Mills and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Commerce.
