Booth Mount Airy Susie Ann Booth, 48, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999. A native of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Booth was a daughter of Inez M. Long and the late J.T. Long. She was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Booth. She was a homemaker and was a member of Hillside Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hillside Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Harris officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Charlie Mac Booth; two sisters, Mary Brewer, Baldwin, and Martha Lovell, Cornelia; and a brother, John Long, Cornelia. Marie Griner Crawford Marie Griner, 97, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999. A native of Muscogee County, Mrs. Griner was a daughter of the late John Augusta and Alline Bower Gafford and was the widow of John Milard Griner Sr. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Donald Griner, Athens. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church, Camilla. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Oakview Cemetery, Camilla, with the Rev. Harris Malcom officiating. Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Griner Shingler, Ashburn, and Genova Griner Harmon, Marietta; two sons, John Milard Griner Jr., Watkinsville, and Harold Edward Griner, Athens; a sister, Perrine Gafford Butler, Camilla; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home, Camilla. Jessie Harwell Winder Jessie Harwell, 92, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999. Mrs. Harwell was the widow of Jim Harwell Sr. and was preceded in death by four children, Jim Harwell Jr., William H. Harwell, Gloria Johnson and Duke Harwell. She was a homemaker and was a member of Union Baptist Church. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Union Baptist Church with the Revs. Rusty Newman, Brantley Harwell and Jack Harwell officiating. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Smith was a son of Bertice Manley Smith, Elberton, and the late Samuel Smith. He was a stonecutter and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. The family will be at the residence of his mother, Bertice Smith, 48 Tate St., Elberton. Lovick P. Suddath Jr. Athens Lovick Pierce (Epp) Suddath Jr. died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999. A native of Atlanta, Mr. Suddath was a son of the late Lovick P. and Nell Williams Suddath. He was the former manager of the Varsity in Athens. He was a star athlete. He scored the first touchdown in a Jr. High football game in Georgia at O'Keefe Jr. High in Atlanta in 1921. He received a full athletic scholarship to Georgia Military Academy (Woodward Academy), College Park. He opened the Varsity in Athens in 1932. The Varsity drive-in was opened 32 years later on Broad Street. He retired in 1973. The only job he ever held after graduating from High School was with the Varsity in some capacity. He was a member of the Gridiron Club University of Georgia. He was a charter member of the Athens Touchdown Club and the Athens Country Club. He was deacon emeritus of First Baptist Church of Athens and was a member of the Forum Class. He was former director of the Athens YMCA and was a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran having served in World War II. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Athens with the Rev. Jon Appleton officiating. Burial will be in the Oconee Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Hearn Suddath, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage; a daughter and son-in-law, Abbie Suddath and James E.B.
