Mr. White was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Madison County. He was the son of the late Willie and Texie White. Mr. White was a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country during World War II in the Philippines. He worked at Harmony Grove Mills for 30 years and then later as a painting contractor before retiring. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce, where he had served his Lord and church as a deacon since 1973. Mr. White was preceded in death by his brothers, J.W. White and Thomas White. Funeral services will be held today at the First Baptist Church of Commerce at 3 p.m., with the Revs. Don Paulson Kent Cranford and Phillip Turner officiating. Interment will be at Grey Hill Cemetery. Mr. White loved his family and friends and they loved him. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Gee White, Commerce, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Junior Dickerson, Commerce; three grandchildren, Phillip Turner and wife Elaine of Gainesville, Vickie Yaughn and husband Scott of Braselton, Michele Head and husband Joseph, Commerce; four great-grandchildren, Etta and Lucas Yaughn, Braselton, Zachary and Ashley Turner of Gainesville; two brothers, Billy White, Lexington, Charles ''Bootsie'' White, Commerce; three sisters, Geraldine Tony, Homer, Virginia Standridge, Commerce and Sara Ann Daniels, Commerce, and many other nieces and nephews whom he loved.
