A native of Chicago, Mr. Haase was a son of the late John J. Haase and Clara Grochowski Haase and was the widower of Dorothy Gram Haase. He was a retired owner and president of Acme Graver Lithograph Printing Co. and was a member of the Royal Arch Masons for 67 years. He was a member of Elberton First Presbyterian Church. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of the arrangements. Elnora Jernigan Greensboro Elnora Champion Jernigan, 69, of 1570 Airport Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999. A native of Cobb County, Mrs. Jernigan was a daughter of Jessie Champion and the late Fronie Moss Champion. She was a former member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Sparta, and attended the Macedonia Baptist Church where she sang in the senior choir. She was an active member of Callaway Crave Lodge. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Revs. L.T. Crawford, John Smith and G.F. Frazier officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. McDonald Jr. Retired Col., U.S. Army Athens Col. Henry "Mac" S. McDonald Jr., 86, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999. Born Oct. 19, 1912, in Pendergrass, and raised in Gainesville, Mr. McDonald was a son of the late Henry Sylvanus McDonald Sr. and Maie Harrison McDonald. In 1929, Mac entered the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi International Honorary Fraternity and Pi Kappa Alpha. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1933. In 1934 he received his appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point where he graduated in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years, having served in Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Greece and Korea. His military duties also included a two-year assignment at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. After his retirement from the military, he received his master's of business administration degree from the University of Georgia. From 1959-75, he taught economics and real estate in the UGA College of Business Administration. He also served as an undergraduate adviser for the Business School and participated in statewide recruitment and orientation of students to the Business School. From 1975 to 1993, he lived in Jacksonville, Fla., Ashville, N.C., and Cape Coral, Fla. He returned to live in Athens in the spring of 1993. A private memorial service will be held by his family. Survivors of Mac's "McDonald Clan" include his wife, Emily C. A native and longtime resident of Madison County, Mr. Walls was a son of the late Homer C. and Cora Campbell Walls and was the widower of Cora Sue Walls. He was a retired mechanic with the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was a member of Gordon's Chapel Methodist Church. A native of Comer, she was born to Nellie Johnson Cox and Deupree Cox on Nov. 13, 1920, and was the widow of John W. Willis after 48 years of marriage. She resided in the Athens area for the past 20 years after she retired from a career in the civil service. She was an active member of the Jewel Sunday School Class and First Baptist Church, Athens. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross at Athens Regional Hospital for 20 years. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Jon Appleton officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
