He was preceded in death by a son, Emory Gilree Jr. He was a retired employee of the Federal Government and was a Navy veteran of World War II. A native of Mount Mourne, N.C., Mrs. Walker was a daughter of the late Alexander Stephens and Caroline Nabors Skelton and was the widow of Marshall Gordon Walker. She was a graduate of Bessie Tift College, Forsyth and Limestone College, Gaffney, S.C., where she received a AB degree. She was a retired school teacher for the Hart County School System, where she taught at Eagle Grove, Reed Creek, Centerville and Hartwell Elementary Schools. She was a charter member of the Hartwell Garden Club and helped organize three other garden clubs including the Madora Garden Club. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Hart County Retired Teachers Association. She was a former owner/operator of Walker Nursery and Landscape where she was a certified landscape designer. She was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, a former Sunday School teacher of the Live Wire Sunday School class and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
