A native of Jackson County, Mr. Bowen was a son of the late William Vernon Bowen Sr. and Fannie Mae Massey Bowen and the widower of Margie Ellen Milton Bowen. He was retired from Gold Kist Feed Mill and was a member of Commerce Church of God. Services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Webber officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Towe, Colbert; three sons, James T. Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements. Harold Goolsby Lexington Harold Goolsby, of 302 S. Point Pete Road died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Goolsby was a son of the late Willie and Florida Sanders Goolsby. He was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. S.A. Bishop officiating. Burial will be in the Goolsby Cemetery. A native of Athens, Mr. Harris was a son of Jerry Curtis Harris Sr. and Betty J. Bush Harris. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Winfred Hope officiating. A native of Walton County, Mrs. Hunter was a daughter of the late Charlie Albertus Casper and Callie Samantha Perry Casper and was the widow of Sam William Hunter. She was a retired from H & H Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Lebanon Methodist Church. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Lankford was a daughter of the late Augustus and Callie Adams Mouchet and the widow of Ralph E. Lankford. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice M. Mauldin, Cleo M. Andrews and Rosalie M. Snelgrove; and two brothers, Hugh W. Mouchet and Charlie J. Mouchet. She was retired from Carwood Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hamby Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Gilstrap officiating. Musical selections will be rendered by the Rev. and Mrs. Richard S. Dickson. A native of Texas, Mr. Tigert was a son of the late Earl and Cleo Turner Tigert. He was a construction worker and served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Nail-Haggard Funeral Home, Daingerfield, Texas. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Daingerfield, Texas. Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Virgil Welborn Union City Virgil Welborn, 83, formerly of Danielsville died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999. Mr. Welborn was a graduate of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia. He was a vocational-agricultural teacher before becoming a county agricultural extension agent, serving for 24 years, mainly in Madison County. He received the Distinguished Service Award of the National County Agents Association. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps World War II veteran. He was assistant chairman of the Board of Stewards of Danielsville Methodist Church, a longtime Sunday School superintendent and teacher. He served as president, secretary and treasurer of the local Civitan Club and was president of the Madison County Retired Teachers Association. He was a member of the board of directors of Family and Children's Services for Madison County and sat on the Northeast Georgia Area Planning and Development Commission. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Church cemetery.
