Ash Arnoldsville Rufus. M. Ash, 80, of 101 Meyer Farm Road, died July 12, 1999. A native of Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late Carl and Amanda Gillchard Ash. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Onie Nation Ash. He was a farmer, truck driver, and owner and operator of East Plaza Gulf Service Station. He retired as a bus driver from the Oglethorpe County school system. He was a veteran of World War II, with the 82nd Chemical Mortar Battalion in the Philippine Islands and Japan. He was a past councilman for the city of Arnoldsville, where he was a former Fire Department Chief. He was a member and served as a deacon of Arnoldsville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East. The Revs. Lee Hunter and Larry Davison will officiate. Interment will be in Arnoldsville Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Katha Nell McDaniel Ash; two daughters and sons-in-law, Florence and Sam Bradley of Washington, Ga., Janet and Bobby Bischoff of Town Creek, Ala.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Sarah Lou Ash, Doyle and Jane Ash, all of Arnoldsville; two stepsons and their wives, Howard and Lindra McDaniel of Hanes City, Fla., Jimmy and Ophelia McDaniel of Athens; three sisters, Lillian Jackson of Blairsville, Gladys Pearsall of Gadsden, Ala., Jessie Meyer of Arnoldsville; two brothers, the Rev. James Ash and Donald Ash, both of Bishop; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons Lamar Ash, Church Gabriel, Lance Ash, Jason Gunter, Joey Brown, Keith Perry, Michael Gorham, and John Harris. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice, Athens, and Rainbow Retirement Center, Arnoldsville. Huey Gene Brinkley Greensboro Huey Gene Brinkley, 57, of Greensboro, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. A native of Greensboro, Mr. Brinkley was employed by Greene Supply Co. Survivors include five sisters, Sybil Brown, Tennille, Jewell Gail Ellington, Milledgeville, Lurlene Shelton, Greensboro, Deborah Brantley, Macon, and Thelma Millican, Conyers; and five brothers, Jessie Ira Brinkley, Las Vegas, Nev., Cecil Brinkley, Conyers, Melvin Brinkley and Jimmy Brinkley, both of Watkinsville, and Charlie Brinkley, Milledgeville. Dorothy Cowart Griffith Duluth Dorothy Cowart Griffith, 72, died Monday, July 12, 1999. A native of Waycross and a former resident of Athens and St. Simons, Mrs. Griffith was a daughter of the late Robert and Marie Sweat Cowart. She graduated from Coffee County High School and attended the University of Georgia, Class of 1948. She was a member of Duluth First United Methodist Church, the Athens Junior League, and Daughters of American Revolution. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and was a former member of Athens Jr. Assembly. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Duluth First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stuart Green officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Park, Atlanta. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Johnny Griffith; three daughters, Ginger Summerville and Georgia Griffith, both of Duluth, and Susan Bond, Athens; two sons, John L. Malcolm, 62, of 242 Ten Mile Road, died Friday, July 9, 1999. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Malcolm was a teacher and media specialist for 40 years, having worked in middle schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church and attended Unity Sunday school class. Services were Sunday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gerald Thomas and Dr. Gene Wilder officiating. Sandy Bostelman gave the eulogy. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, David R. A native of Atlanta, Mr. Mosteller was a son of the late Joseph Fort Mosteller Sr. and Mattie Edwards Mosteller. He was a graduate of Georgia State University and served in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant. He had a career in the auto-parts distribution business in the Atlanta and North Georgia area and was a member of First Baptist Church, Elberton. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton, with the Revs. C.E. Jackson III and Steve Fenlon officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bowman. Mrs. Sikes was a daughter of Mary Sue Chandler of Statham and the late Jerry Perry. She was a homemaker. F. Mitchell "Mitch" Turner, 62, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. A native of Greenville, S.C., Mr. Turner was a son of the late Mack F. and Irias Wood Turner. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was vice president and treasurer of Factors, Etc. Inc., of Bear, Del., for 12 years before moving to South Carolina, where he was a business owner in the Garden City area for the past 11 years. A lifelong resident of Crawford, Mrs. Lowe was a daughter of the late Joseph Edwin and Martha McKenzie Stokely, and was the widow of Lt. Joe H. Lowe, GSP. She was postmaster in Crawford for 36 years and was a member of the Crawford Methodist Church, where she received a Cradle Roll Certificate. She was also a member of the Crawford Woman's Club, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the National Association for Retired Federal Employees. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Crawford Methodist Church, with the Revs. Thomas Moon, Jim Hinzman and David Shiver officiating. Burial will be in the Crawford Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Jo Lowe, Statesboro; a son, Edd Lowe, Athens; a sister, Nancy Stokely Adams, Crawford; a brother, Col. Joe E.
