Eleanor Greene Smith Rogers, 78, of The Knolls, South Hadley, and Orleans, Mass., formerly of Athens, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999. A native of Winchester, Mass., Mrs. Rogers was a daughter of the late Charles and Christine Everts Greene and was the widow of Winslow Smith and Lockhart B. Rogers. She was a 1942 graduate of Mount Holyoke College and was a cryptologist for the War Department during World War II. She hosted graduate students and was active as a facility wife at MIT, Purdue and the University of Georgia. She was a member of the Mount Holyoke Association, of which she was president, and was a trustee of the college. There are no services planned at this time. Survivors include a daughter, Eleanor R. Johnson, South Hadley, Mass.; a son, Winslow S. Rogers, Van Nuys, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Hughgill, Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Stephen Greene, Newcastle, Maine, and Charles E.
