Burial will be in City West Cemetery. Survivors include five sisters, Christene Stewart, Frances Pender, Diane Davis, and Clara Murray, all of Washington, and Hattie Wesley, Marion, Ohio; and five brothers, Charlie Davis, Willie C. Josephine Edith Franklin Clarkesville Josephine Edith Baic' Franklin, 89, of 3383 Toccoa Highway, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999. A native of Steelton, Pa., Mrs. Franklin was a daughter of the late John and Jenny Bendenko Baic', widow of Clarence W. Franklin, and preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Franklin Stroud. She resided in Habersham County for nearly 50 years, was retired as food services director at Piedmont College, Demorest, worked in the Food Service Department at North Habersham High School, was a member of Clarkesville Lodge 276, Order of the Eastern Star where she held many offices and was Past Worthy Matron, and was a member of Clarkesville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Whitfield Funeral Home, Baldwin, with the Revs. Robert Brown and Blaine Walker officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Park. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Burns, Cornelia, and Vivian Schoonmaker, Demorest; a son, Robert L. The family is at the residence and will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Isabell Gaul Hartwell Isabell Gunn Kane Gaul, 84, of 1669 Whippoorwill Trail, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. A native of Winnipeg, Canada, Mrs. Gaul was a daughter of the late William John and Alexandria Kane and widow Cyril Leo Gaul. She was a retired bus driver for the city of Los Angeles and member of St. Pauls Presbyterian Church, Garden Grove, Calif. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Calif., at a later date. Survivors include two daughters, Ellen M. Means, Tucson, Ariz., and Anna M. She attended Athens Area Technical Institute, was a homemaker, and member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. CammieA. She resided in Athens for the past 30 years, attended Trinity College, in Dublin, Ireland, worked with mentally handicapped children in Columbus, Ohio, was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and was a retired production and quality control manager of Ranick Corp. She resided in Oglethorpe County for the past 91 years and was the oldest member of Cherokee Corner United Methodist Church. Schneider and a cousin, Lauren M. Micci. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Skelton was a daughter of the late Van Dillard and Annie Louise Cantrell Canup and widow of Curtis Lee Skelton. She was retired from Clarkesville Mill. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Merle McKemie Wyche Elberton Merle McKemie Wyche, 77, of 259 Church St., died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. A native of Clay County, Mrs. Wyche was a daughter of the late Henry Grady McKemie and Jennie Claude Hammack. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Georgia State College for Women in 1942 and studied piano and voice at Julliard School of Music in New York. She taught private piano lessons and performed musically for church and civic organizations, taught music in Atlanta public schools and later in Elberton, and taught English literature for many years at Elbert County High School, where she served as chairman of the English department. She worked with her husband to run Wyche Oil Co., a family-owned business. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Elberton Music Club, Civic League, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She helped found the Elbert County Historical Society and served as president for several years, was instrumental in getting it designated on the National Register of Historic Places, and was recognized for her work with the Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elberton First Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.E. Jackson III officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Madison Baker Wyche Jr.; two daughters, Barbara W. Marxer and Caroline W. McLean, both of Atlanta; two sons, M. Baker Wyche III, Greenville, S.C., and Henry M. Wyche, Atlanta; a sister, Kate McKemie, Decatur; a brother, W. Frank McKemie, Avondale Estates; and five grandchildren.
