Davis Statham R.B. Davis, 79, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999. A native of Statham, Mr. Davis was a son of the late Melvin and Genie Peppers Davis. He was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, was a retired machinist for Empire Manufacturing Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Davis. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Revs. Bud McDonald and Doyle Sims officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Frances Jackson Davis; two sons, Marion Davis, Crawford, and Herbert "Bud" Davis, Statham; three sisters, Josie Sosbee, Eastville, Jurell Pruitt, Statham, and Nancy McDaniel, Monroe; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Lutrelle A. Garner Bowman Lutrelle Adams Garner, 86, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Garner was a daughter of the late William Elmo Adams and Agnes Moore Adams and was the widow of Guytrelle Garner. She was a retired seamstress with Oxford Manufacturing Company and was a member of Bowman Baptist Church. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. John Forbes officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Elberton. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Vickery, 1158 Ruckersville Road. Mildred Harris Ila Mildred Lee Harris, 62, of 244 Pine St. died Thursday, April 15, 1999. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Harris was a daughter of Annie L. Booth Rich and the late Charles L. Rich and was the widow of Robert Harris. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church with the Revs. Albert Vaughn and Johnny Tucker officiating. Burial will be in the Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a sister, Margie Brown, Danielsville; and a nephew, Scott Brown, Danielsville. The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville. Jean Ross Holt Columbia, Md. Jean Ross Holt, 77, of Freetown Road, formerly of Athens, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999. A native of Athens, Mrs. Holt was a daughter of the late Bertha and Charles C. Ross and was the widow of Stewart B. Holt. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville, Fla. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oconee Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Terrell officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy H. McCloskey, Ellicott City, Md.; a son, Stewart B. Holt Jr., Marietta; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Bernstein Funeral Home. Hughes Drive died Sunday, April 11, 1999. A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Hughes was a son of Early Hughes and Delois Burden Hughes. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and was a student at Elbert County Comprehensive High School. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Luther Mahoney, Robert Davenport and Joe Jones officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
