Bankston Ellerslie Willoughby Tyrone Bankston, 49, of 67 Rocky Pines Drive died Monday, July 12, 1999. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Bankston was a son of Mytes H. Minor of Ellerslie and the late Timothy Bankston. He was a member of Maple Spring Baptist Church, Elbert County, and was a 1968 graduate of Carver High School, Columbus. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Maple Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Alvin Scott officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Danita Perry, Phenix City, Ala.; two sons, Raymond Bankston and Dwayne Bankston, both of Columbus; and four grandchildren. Mack's Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jack Brown Union Point Robert Lee "Jack" Brown, 79, of 3031 Union Point Highway died Sunday, July 11, 1999. A native of Greene County, Mr. Brown was a son of the late Robert and Nancy Brown and was the widower of Nusette Willingham Brown. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmie lee and Joseph Brown. He was a member of Pierce Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in White Plains. He was formerly employed by Jack Bradley's Sawmill and Lumber Co. and retired from the University of Georgia after 25 years of service. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Boswell Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric Calhoun officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include six daughters, Nellie Newsome and Mamie Reed, both of Athens, Mary Brown, Virginia Beach, Va., Brenda Brown and Nusette Jones, both of Union Point, and Inez Davenport, Carlton; four sons, Frank Brown and Robert Lee Brown Jr., both of Union Point, Otis Brown, Athens, and Michael Brown, Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Nancy Dobbins, Atlanta, and Lillie Bell Green, Warrenton; 41 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Dickens Caldwell, 84, of 1560 Rocky Branch Road died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Caldwell was a daughter of the late J. Tom and Olivia Malcolm Dickens. She had attended Union Christian Church for many years and was a member of Ashford Methodist Church. She was an employee of Thomas Textile for 29 years. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Millard Decker officiating. Survivors include her husband, Hoke Caldwell; a son, Mack Caldwell, Bogart; three sisters, Ruth Crowe, Bogart, Olivia Thomas, Watkinsville, and Myrtle Comer, Florida; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. A native of Statesboro and a longtime resident of Athens, Mr. Cone was a son of the late Aaron and Dorothy Gardener Cone. He was retired from the University of Georgia Printing Department and was a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church. He was U.S. Army veteran. Graveside services will at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Doug Thrasher officiating. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn N. Cone; two sisters, Eleanor Gee, Statesboro, and Dorothy Shiever, Florida; two brothers, William G. Cone and Henry Cone, both of Statesboro; nieces and nephews. He was a member of Joe Brown Conally Chapter 2 and was a retired master mechanic for Certainteed Corporation. Julian Johnson Canon Julian Edgar Johnson, 85, of 707 Ray Weaver Road died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. A native of Hart County, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Luke G. and Leila Dickerson Johnson. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Louise Johnson and Lynn Johnson. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Redwine United Methodist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray S. Jenkins and Gary McWhorter officiating. Burial will be in Redwine United Methodist Church cemetery.
