He was a Girls Little League softball coach and was a member of the Georgia Association of House Inspectors and the Athens Board of Inspectors. He was a former member of the Jackson County Board of Realtors and was a former owner and advocator of the restoration of the Morton Theatre. Thomas Watson Franklin, 83, formerly of 1522 Franklin Drive, Elberton, died Sunday, March 14, 1999. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Franklin was a son of the late Paul Thomas and Alice Elizabeth Nelms Franklin. He was a retired Baptist minister, having pastored Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Flat Shoals Baptist Church and Gordon Memorials Baptist Church, all in Hart County. In 1954 he founded a new church in Elberton, which became West End Baptist Church. He pastored this church for 27 years. He was a member of Elberton Baptist Church. Sheuring Athens Delora Cosette Sheuring, 88, died Sunday, March 14, 1999. A native of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Sheuring was a daughter of the late Cecil and Delora Lawwill. She was married to Dr. John Joseph Sheuring, who had a long career in the Diary Science Department at the University of Georgia. She was a 1932 graduate of Charleston College and taught public school in Danville from 1933 to 1942. In 1949, she moved to Athens where she started a career as the first woman Realtor in Athens. At the same time, she and her husband, along with Raymond Lester and Nick Chivilas, started the Burger Chef franchise in Georgia. After the passing of her husband, she founded the scholarships in Dairy Science in honor of her late husband. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens and provided funds for the restoration and display of the church bell now located in front of the church. She was a longtime member of the Pilot Club of Athens and also served on the Board of Directors for the Mental Health Association. She loved spending time with her family and many friends, gardening, and playing bridge. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Glenn Doak officiating.
