Alspaugh Watkinsville Foster D. Alspaugh, 76, died Friday, May 14, 1999. A native of Iowa, Mr. Alspaugh was a son of the late Foster D. and Zillah Head Alspaugh. He was a labor relations specialist with Celotex Corp. and a former vice-president of industrial relations with Mobile Steamship Co. He was a former mayor of Baraga, Mich., an active member of S.P.B.S.Q.A., and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion, the Lion's Club, and Hannah Masonic Lodge. He was a director of A.C.T.S., a former school board member in Baraga, Mich., and was a member of the Oconee Library Board. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Watkinsville First United Methodist Church, Watkinsville, with the Revs. Gary Whetstone and Bob Willis officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Oconee Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Jo Murphy Alspaugh; two daughters, Dana Blair, Watkinsville, and Arlyss Bordes, Slidell, La.; a son, Fred Alspaugh, Lawton, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville. Memorials may be made to the Adult Choir of the Watkinsville First United Methodist Church. Irene Christopher Athens Irene Tate Christopher, 76, of 438 Bailey Street died Saturday, May 15, 1999. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Christopher was a daughter of the late Leo and May Gunter Tate and was the widow of Harold L. Christopher. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Lord & Stephens Chapel East with the Rev. Elmer Butler officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Tim Christopher, Winterville; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and a nephew. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Delean Mize Dewy Rose Delean Holcomb Mize, 75, of 2705 Mize Circle died Friday, May 14, 1999. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Mize was a daughter of the late Bert N. and Jewell Allen Holcomb. She was a homemaker, a seamstress, and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Holly Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Dalton Carrington and Ed Sayer officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, John W. Mize; a son, Larry B. Mize, Dewy Rose; two daughters, Wanda Mize King, Bowman, and Martha Mize Wright, Dewy Rose; three brothers, Allen Holcomb, Anderson, S.C., Robert Holcomb and Aubrey Holcomb, both of Royston; a sister, Elizabeth Holcomb Vaughn, Royston; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family is at the residence of Larry Mize, 2718 Mize Circle N.W., Dewy Rose. Pruitte Funeral Home, Royston, is in charge of the arrangements. Mary Joan Taylor Atlanta Services for Mary Joan Taylor, 68, will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Ms. Taylor was a daughter of the late Victor A. Taylor Sr. and Lucien Morgan Cox Taylor. She was a professional musician playing at Pittypat's Porch, Yohannens Restaurant, and the Pascagoula Inn in Mississippi. She was a member of the Eastern Stars. Survivors include a brother, Victor A. Taylor Jr., Los Angeles, Calif.; a niece; and several cousins.
