Benton Hartwell Teresa Auvilla Woods Benton, 40, of 2928 Mount Hebron Road, died Thursday, April 15, 1999. A native of Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Benton was a daughter of Emmett L. and Milfred C. Risher Woods, Hartwell. She was a graduate of El Centro College-Brookhaven School of Nursing. She was employed with Stephens County Hospital as a registered nurse in Pediatrics. She was certified in Neonatal Advanced Life Support and was a pediatric advanced support instructor. She served as a part-time instructor at North Georgia Tech and served as computer instructor at Stephens County Hospital. She was a member of the Texas Nursing Association, Phi Theta Kappa Society, National Dean's List and Who's Who of American College's in 1992 and 1993. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ted Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Reed Creed Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Kirk J. Benton; two daughters, Sara Louise Benton and Saundra A. Benton, both of Hartwell; a son, Russell E. Benton, Hartwell; three sisters, Linda Stone, Douglasville, Wanda Colby and Frances Case, all of Hartwell; and a brother, Emmett L. Woods Jr., Hartwell. The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Rufus Campbell Washington Rufus Campbell, 69, of 709 Henry Drive, died Monday, April 12, 1999. A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Campbell was a son of the late Henry and Jessie Mae Campbell. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lamar Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Survivors include a brother, Roscoe Campbell. Davenport-McLendon Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Mildred E. McMichael Madison Mildred Elizabeth McMichael, 76, of 649 Skyline Drive, died Thursday, April 15, 1999. A native of Anderson, S.C., Mrs. McMichael was a daughter of the late Lawrence Orr Cromer and Lura Cox and was the widow of Robert T. McMichael Sr. She was a secretary for Hulme Sign Co. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Simmons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Kerr officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in New Silver Brook Cemetery, Anderson. Survivors include a son, Terry McMichael, Madison; a brother, Melvin Cromer, Milan, Mich.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the residence. Rodriquez Nunnally Tignall Rodriquez Nunnally, 29, of 6107 Elberton Road, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999. A native of Lincoln, Mr. Nunnally was a son of John and Denora Nunnally. He was a corrections officer for six years and served in the U.S. Navy during Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of Thankful Baptist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Thankful Baptist Church, with the Rev. Zett Harris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, Costella Nunnally. McLendon Memorial Funeral Home, Washington, is in charge of the arrangements. Helen C. Olson Winder Helen C. Olson died Thursday, April 15, 1999. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Survivors include her husband, John Olson; and a daughter, Helida Bufford, Athens. Shepherd Athens Bobby L. Shepherd, 63, of 130 Lakeshore Drive,died Thursday, April 15, 1999. A native of Covington, Mr. Shepherd was a son of the late Henry Grady and Pauline Garner Shepherd. He was proceeded in death by two brothers, Paul Shepherd and Jimmy Shepherd. He began his law enforcement career with the University of Georgia Police in 1966, served with the Athens-Clarke County Police from 1969-1987, retiring as detective. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars serving with the 82nd Airborne, and was a member of West End Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Bernstein Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lee Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Oxford. Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Doster, Hull; two sisters, Carolyn Reid, Athens, and Shelvie Shields, Hull; two brothers, Charles Shepherd, Lilburn, and Glenn Shepherd, Corsicana, Texas; three grandsons, Allen Stewart, Christopher Stewart and Brandon Stewart, all of Athens; nieces and nephews. Bill Smith Comer William "Bill" Smith, 68, of 168 Howard Bridge Road, died Friday, April 16, 1999. A native of Madison County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Cammie and Carrie Smith. He had lived in this area all of his life and was retired from IBEW #613. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Colbert Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Betty Russell Smith; five daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and John McElhannon, Athens, Phyllis and Scott Brannon, Watkinsville, Cindy and Scott Wentworth, Comer, Anita and Chris Peck, Colbert, and Karen and Darvin Branch, Comer; two sisters, Sue Williams, Comer, and Blanche Wilkins, Colbert; four brothers, Henry A. Smith, Cartersville, James E. Smith, Comer, Hugh Gaines Smith, Crawford, and Robert A. Smith, Colbert; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
