Gardner Greensboro Cathy Lynn Callaway Gardner, 40, of 1250 Twin Rivers Road died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Gardner was a daughter of James Callaway and Allene Durham Callaway, Union Point. She was a supervisor for Horton Homes and was a member of the Young Women Missionary and the First Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, Union Point, with the Rev. David Key officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include three sons, Travis Goss and Michael Beard, both of Union Point, and Clay Goss, Kingsland; a sister, Shirley C. Blakely, Benton, Ky.; two brothers, Todd Callaway, Woodville, and Tim Callaway, Worthen; and her grandmother, Mattie Durham Wood, Union Point. Pallbearers will be Thomas Goss, Jeff Snipes, Robbie Gardner, Travis Goss, David Snipes, Kim Beard, Paul Jackson and Billy Goss. A native of Dekalb County, Mr. Flynt was a son of the late Max Sidney and Susan Smith Flynt Sr. and was the widower of Jane C. Reese Flynt. He was a retired Lt. Commander in the United States Navy having served on the USS Foote during World War II. He received his masters degree from Oglethorpe University, Atlanta. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, the Retired Officers Association, and the Kiawanis International. He served on the Council of Aging and was a member of the Athens Elk Lodge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Granger officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Atlanta will full military honors. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Brown Flynt, Winterville; two daughters, Marlin Collins, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Hilary Flynt, Tucker; and two brothers, Collins Flynt, Decatur, and Bill Flynt, Murfreesboro, Tenn.
