A native of Lincoln County, Mrs. Childs was a daughter of the late James Hardy and Camille Smith Leverette and was the widow of Thomas Woodrow Childs Sr. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Woodrow "Buddy" Childs Jr. She was owner of Childs Used Cars and Wrecker Service and was a member of the Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Hicks Funeral Home with the Revs. John Heckman and Roy Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Survivors include a sister, Sara L. Noggle, Elberton; a great-grandson raised in the home, Woody Childs; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Coker was a daughter of the late Jim and Suela Fleeman and was the widow of Hester Coker. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Elbert County. A native of White County, Mr. Dorsey was a son of the late Homer and Sarah Lou Satterfield Dorsey. He was a retired first sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. for 20 years. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was employed with Habersham Metal Products and retired from Habersham County in 1980. Born Sept. 9, 1896, in Banks County, Mr. Gillespie was a son of the late William Bowers Gillespie and Nancy Gober Gillespie and was the widower of Helen Barnett Gillespie. He was preceded in death by a son, Lowry Harden Gillespie Jr. He began his career in Commerce and moved to Athens in the 1930s. After gaining valuable experience in the hardware business, he formed Gillespie Builders Hardware in the 1950s and was certified as an Architectural Hardware Consultant. He was well respected in the business community and was known for his integrity, fairness and dedication to excellence. Many homes, churches and University buildings in the Athens area were furnished with his hardware locks. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner for more than 75 years.
