A native of Corbin, Va., Mrs. Blevins was a daughter of Ovie Taylor and the late John Henry James and the widow of Gaines Blevins. She was the business manager for Tommy Scott Productions. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with the Rev. Bob Alewine officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a son, Scotty Lee Blevins, Hendersonville, Tenn.; a sister, Pauline Swindall, San Diego, Calif.; four brothers, Emory James, Eastanollee, Walter James and Ronald James, both of Big Stone Gap, Va., and John Henry James Jr., Christiansburg, Va.; and a granddaughter. The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. James Wilton Brown Homer James Wilton Brown, 81, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999. A native of Banks County, Mr. Brown was born on April 9, 1918, a son of the late James Leo and Decie Murray Brown and was the widower of Rosa Lee Keese Brown, after 40 years of marriage. He was a retired contractor and master carpenter and was a community and church leader. He was widely known throughout Northeast Georgia for his benevolence and interest in people, church, and community. His church, Nails Creek Baptist, was his major focus. He served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and chariman of many church boards. His leadership ability was recognized not only by his church, but by neighboring churches who recognized his unique expertise in Biblical interpretations. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Nails Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul Robertson and Roy Rogers officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara B. and William I. Segars, Athens; a son and daughter-in-law, J. Dewey and Patricia Brown, Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Alecia S. Barber, Athens, William Alan Segars, Alpharetta, James Patrick and James Christopher Brown, both of Richmond, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, William Christopher Morris, Stephen D. Morris, and Kimberly Ann Barber, all of Athens. Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class at Nails Creek Baptist Church, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. H.M. Carroll Stockbridge Herman Martin "H.M." Carroll Jr., 74, of 1166 Elm St., formerly of Carnesville, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Carroll was a son of the late Herman Martin Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Looney Carrol. He was a retired construction worker and was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Salomia Beasley Jones Athens Salomia Beasley Jones, 98, of 130 Helen St. died Sunday, March 14, 1999. A native of Taliaferro County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Bud and Charlotte Durham Beasley. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at New Dorsey Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Revs. H.L. A native of Fulton County, Mrs. Lewis was a daughter of the late William Payne and Ruth Thomas Payne. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia, was a retired teacher and was employed by Flowers, Inc. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Survivors include three daughters, Estelle Lewis, Macon, Josie Lewis, Watkinsville, and Amanda Reynolds, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; her children's father, Ronald E. Lewis, Watkinsville; a sister, Estelle O'Brien, Jonesboro; nieces and nephews. A prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel. Moss, 68, of Hollingsworth Community died Tuesday, March 16, 1999. A native of Banks County, Mr. Moss was a son of Carrie Sanders Moss, Alto, and the late Howard A. Moss. He was retired from Ethicon Johnson and Johnson, Cornelia plant after 44 years service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. John Sayer Bowersville Pleas John Sayer, 89, of 7517 Scheafer St. died Wednesday, March 17, 1999. A native of Hart County, Mr. Sayer was a son of the late John Bond and Mary Elizabeth Bennett Sayer. He was a retired farmer and construction worker and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Bowersville United Methodist Church and was the last member of his immediate family.
