Brakefield Monroe Louise T. Brakefield, 86, of Monroe died Friday, April 16, 1999. A native of Wilkes County, Mrs. Brakefield was a daughter of the late Robert Turner and the late Lillie Powell. She was a member of the Baptist faith and a retired knitter from Chipman-Union Manufacturing. Graveside services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point with the Rev. David Key officiating. Survivors include a brother, Robert Turner, Woodville; and two sisters, Virginia Turner, Atlanta and Minnie T. McCannon, Union Point. Samuel Butler Winder Samuel Butler, 73, died Thursday, April 15, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Move of God with the Rev. James Lyle officiating. The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Jannie Lee Reddish of Winder; six sons, Raymond Butler of Bethlehem, Jeffery Butler of Statham and Bruce Butler, Michael Butler, Gary Butler and Cornelius Butler, all of Winder; a brother, C.L. Butler of Statham; a sister, Ruby Shields of Statham; and nine grandchildren. Eberhart & Son Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Bobby A. Coker Cornelia Bobby A. Coker, 66, died Sunday, April 18, 1999. A native of Habersham County, Mr. Crow was a son of Carrie Croy Coker of Baldwin and the late Dan S. Coker. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Coker. He was retired from Lee Arrendale State Prison after 16 years of service and attended Level Grove Baptist Church. A graduate of Demorest High School, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in Japan. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Whitfield Funeral Home with the Revs. Terry Rice, Tom Mewborn and Bob Watson officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Helen McAlister Coker of Cornelia; two daughters, Debbie A. Thomas and Donna A. Boelter, both of Cornelia; a sister, Effie J. Mary Lou Hughes Athens Mary Lou Hughes, 79, of 3985 Atlanta Highway, died Saturday, April 17, 1999. A native of Ora, S.C., Mrs. Hughes was the daughter of the late John Oliver and Madeline Satterwhite Williams. She was a co-manager of Storage Trust in Athens and a member of the Cleveland Road Baptist Church. She was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Medical Corps. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Laurens, S.C., with the Rev. Barry Davis officiating. Survivors include her husband, William H. Hughes of Athens; daughter, Betty Lou Hughes of Gracewood; son, Bill Hughes of Dallas, Tex.; and a brother, John O. Williams of Columbia, S.C. Bridges Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Donald Frank Mann Hartwell Donald Frank Mann, 54, of 284 Golf Course Road, died Saturday, April 17, 1999. The husband of Charlene Seymour Mann, Mr. Mann was a native of Anderson County, S.C., and a son of the late Tom Frank and Lillie Ginn Mann. He was a senior technologist in the fibers division of BASF in Anderson, was of the Baptist faith and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home in Hartwell with the Rev. Richard Bielski and Mr. Roy Crocker officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. Survivors, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Troy T. Mann of Newnan and James D. Mann of Marietta; a stepson, Bryan Glidewell of Woodstock; and a brother, David R. Mann of Acworth. Moss Sr. and Dorothy Moss of Tignall, Mr. Moss was a native of Wilkes County and a carpenter. Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Tignall with the Rev. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Egerton Whittle Athens Dr. Egerton Whittle, 59, of 100 Frontier Court, died Saturday, April 17, 1999. A native of Frodsham, Cheshire, England, Mr. Whittle was the son of the late Grosvenor and Elsie Kefford Whittle. Raised in upstate New York, the received his undergraduate degree from Indiana State University and Ph.D. from Ohio State University. After working at Penn State University and the University of Ottawa, he moved to Athens in 1982 to work at the University of Georgia's Cooperative Extension Service, where he became head of the Feed and Nutrition Laboratory. Services will be private. Survivors are his wife, Inge Z. Whittle of Athens; a daughter, Amy Margaret Locklin of Bloomington, Indiana; a son, Reid Blackmer Locklin of Boston, Mass.; a sister, Elizabeth Olive Everetts of Beaver, Pa.; and a brother, John Frederick Whittle of San Diego, Cal.
