A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Lee and Mattie Reed Ollis and was the widow of Lester Allen. She was a member of Compassion Baptist Church, Carnesville. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, with the Revs. Leon Carson and Ray Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Cemetery. Survivors include: three daughters, Sue Sarkinen, Lavonia, Diane Smith, Fla. and Nancy Cleveland, Demorest; two sons, Jerry Montgomery, Greenville, S.C. and Lee Allen, Alto; a sister, Bonnie Mitchell, Monroe; two brothers, Larry Ollis, Cedartown, and Jimmy Ollis, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Baldwin, 91, of Foster St. died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999. A native of Morgan County, Mrs. Baldwin was a daughter of the late Charles M. Furlow and Elizabeth Thompson Furlow and was the widow of William Whitfield Baldwin. She was a housewife. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Madison Methodist Church, with the Revs. Tom Kerr and Charles Furlow III officiating. Burial will be in Madison City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Survivors include 12 nieces and nephews. Annie L. Vaughn Beasley Decatur, Ill. Annie Lou Vaughn Beasley, 91, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Beasley was a daughter of the late Crawford and Mary Ann Ayers Vaughn and was the widow of Arthur Beasley. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Beasley. She was a retired seamstress from Wright Garment Company, Bowman, and was a member of Liberty Congregational Church, Hart County. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Liberty Congregational Church, with the Rev. Earl Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Concord Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Survivors include: two daughters, Ina B. Porter and Saradah B. Taylor, both of Bath, S.C.; four sons, Allen Beasley, Travis Beasley, and Terry Beasley, all of Decatur, Ill. and Vandel Beasley, Macon, Ill; a sister, Allie Bea Seymour, Anderson, S.C.; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Bridges Jr. Athens Dr. Robert E. "Ned" Bridges Jr., 45, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999. A native of Fulton County, Dr. Bridges was a son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert E. Bridges Sr., Gainesville. He was a graduate of Dalton High School and received his B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Texas and his master's and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Georgia. He was a Rehabilitation Psychologist and specialized in physical disabilities. He worked with Sink and Associates, Athens. He was a member of the Board of Athens Folk Society and was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church. He had lived in Athens since 1970. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Gainesville, with the Rev. A. F. Turnell officiating. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: a daughter, Maggie Bridges, Athens; his fiancee, Brandi Jones, Athens; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Richard Huie, Calhoun; two brothers and sister-in-law, Lee and Maria Bridges, Doraville, and Scott and Kathy Bridges, Winder; his grandmother, Pauline Montgomery, Arcadia, Fla.; a niece, Katy Huie; and a nephew, David Bridges. Mrs. Hanna was retired from the federal government. A native of Tellico Plains, Tenn., Mrs. McKibben was a daughter of the late John Henderson and Carrie E. Coppenger and was the widow of Charles McKibben. She was a homemaker, was a member of Hartwell First Methodist Church and Elizabeth Matheson Circle of the UMW. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home, with the Rev. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Owens was a son of Angeline Brown Owens and the late Lester Owens. Mr. Owens was a salesman with Everlasting Granite Company and was a member of the Elberton Philomathea Masonic Lodge No. 25. He was a member of Elberton Christian Church, where he served as an elder, a Sunday School teacher and a youth worker. A native of New York City, Mr. Schafer was a son of the late Edward F. and Catherine Miskell Schafer and was the widower of Julia Rice Schafer. He was a retired Ground Transportation Supervisor with Pan American Airways, Rockledge, Fla. Following his retirement, he attended Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1978 and receiving his Funeral Directors and Embalmers License for the State of Georgia. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Private graveside services will be held in Clark Cemetery, Lexington. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Hardy Schafer; two daughters, Dr. Katherine Lindgren, Chattanooga, Tenn. and Jacqueline Erickson, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a son, Dr. Edward A. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Thornton was a daughter of the late Charlie and Ethel Cornell Shiflet and was the widow of Samuel C. "Sam" Thornton. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Flat Shoals Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class, WMU, the choir, and Happy Timers. She was the former Sunday school teacher for 4- to 5-year-olds. Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Flat Shoals Baptist Church, with the Revs. Sid Newell, Eddy Mattison and Ben Coleman officiating. At Mr. Williams request, his body was donated to the Medical College of Georgia.
