Highway 28 South, died Saturday, July 17, 1999. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Alewine was a daughter of the late Carl T. and Lizzie Mae Hutchins Lord. She was bookkeeper and part owner/operator of Athens Auto Wrecking. She was a member of Edwards Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Revs. Jamie Doster and Elmer Butler officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, William Alewine; a daughter, Barbara Anne Alewine, Hull; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Edward "Bobby" and Betty Alewine, Ormand Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Florence Wood, Colbert, Mary Lee Hunter, Jefferson, and Mildred Parson, Maysville; five grandsons, Joe and Kristie Alewine, Lexington, Bo and Julie Alewine, Hull, and Bobby Alewine, Robbie Alewine, and Shane Alewine, all of Fla.; four great-grandsons, Josh Alewine, Terence Alewine, Tyler Alewine, and Bryce Alewine, all of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mike Alewine, Roger Alewine, Clay Huff, Dennis Cowart, Larry Alewine, Ricky Alewine, and Mike Alewine. Sara Copelan Union Point Sara Edwards English Copelan, 84, of 901 Dolvin Ave., died Friday, July 16, 1999. A native of Taliaferro County, Mrs. Copelan was a daughter of the late DeWitt Edwards and Willie Pitts Edwards Malcom. She was retired from Chipman-Union Manufacturing as a finish operator and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Callaway Funeral Home, Union Point, with the Rev. Landon Carey officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Union Point. Survivors include her husband, John "Hamp" Copelan; a daughter, Betty English Rice, Hull; a son, Russell DeWitt English, De Soto, Texas; three sisters, Irene Edwards and Jane Edwards Taylor, both of Atlanta, a brother, Davis Edwards, Martinez, and Frances Edwards Kirkley, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A native of Newton County, Mr. Dye was a son of Morgan W. and Geraldine Baker Dye, Hartwell. He was a machine mechanic for Dundee Mills and was a member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Dye. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, with the Rev. Ted Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Glenda Canady Dye; a son, Darren Dye, Hartwell; two brothers, Marvin Dye, Elberton, and Sherman Dye, Greenville, S.C.; and three grandchildren. Gerald Emans Commerce Gerald Everett Emans, 66, of 1464 Commerce-Neece Road, died Saturday, July 17, 1999. A native of Owosso, Mich., Mr. Emans was a son of the late Charles William and Dorothea Lillian Emans. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and worked as a machinist for the Polaroid Camera Co., retiring after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothea Emans. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Survivors include three daughters, JoAnn Anderson, Natick, Mass., Diana Ascheman, Holland, Mich., and MaryLou Kellerson, Commerce; three sons, Charles Emans, Framingham, Mass., David S. Emans, Campton, N.H., and Gerald Emans Jr., Demorest; five sisters, Geraldine Blakesley, Alice Domerese, Kathryn Faber, and Betty Truesdell, all of Mich., and Diana Evans, Ark.; two brothers, Charles Emans, Owosso, Mich., and Walter Emans, Muskegon, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Sara Alice Moorhead Hartwell Sara Alice Madden Moorhead, 68, of 769 Benson St., died Saturday, July 17, 1999. A native of Rome, Mrs. Moorhead was a daughter of the late Daniel Edgar Madden Sr. and Effie Agnes Wright Madden. She was a licensed practical nurse and was a member of Reed Creek Baptist Church. She was employed by Bellcraft Mfg. and Southern Umbrella Co. After becoming a nurse, she worked with Dr. L.G. Cacchioli, Hartwell. During her nursing career, she also worked for Harmony Grove Mill, Commerce, Hart County Head Start, Tugaloo Home Health Care, and Heritage Inn Nursing Home, Hartwell. She was a member of the Hartwell Zoning Committee. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, with the Rev. Ted Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, Bobby G. Moorhead; two daughters, Cheryl Moorhead Ayers and Wanda Moorhead Strickland; a son, Bryan Moorhead; two sisters, Doris Marett, Hartwell, and Virginia Russell Ihle, Seneca, S.C.; a brother, Curtis H.
