A native of East Point, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Jesse E. and Allie Mae Meek Driskell. A former resident of Macon, she had made her home in Athens since 1964, where she was employed with Hilsman Middle School for 18 years. Mrs. Arrington was a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church, Co-Workers Sunday School Class and former church treasurer. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 21, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Tuckston United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Doug Thrasher, Rev. Paul Hanna and Rev. Robert Gillespie officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert K. Duncan, Howard M. Pratt, Billy Williams, W.C. Smith, Calvin C. Scott, Virgil L. Whittington, Gary Bennett and Wilson McGee. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Roy Arrington, David Arrington, Eddie Arrington Jr. and Danny Arrington and members of Co-Workers Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband, William S. Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, is in charge of arrangements. Jeanette Brown Danielsville Dorothy Jeanette Reno Brown, 50, of 75 Transco Road, died Sunday, July 18, 1999. A native of Guntown, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Guy C. and Mary Lou Chastain Reno, and the widow of Herbert Brown. She was a member of Blue Stone Baptist Church and had lived in this area all of her life. She was preceded by a grandson, Justin Tyler Brown. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at 3 p.m. at Blue Stone Baptist Church. The Revs. Ray Jenkins and David McDonald will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Chastain was a daughter of the late Chris and Amanda W. Whitmore and was the widow of Clyde Chastain. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wynell Braselton. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home with Mike Braselton, Greg Simmons and Steve Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Sallye Ruth Hendon Athens Sallye Ruth Hendon, 92, formerly of 240 S. View Drive, died Saturday, July 17, 1999. Mrs. Hendon, a native of Newton County, Ga., was the daughter of the late T.D. and Frances Cannon Meadors and was preceded in death by both her first husband, J.C. Bell, and her son, J. Donald Bell, and was the widow of the late Warren Lint Hendon. A graduate of G.S.C.W. in Milledgeville she had lived in Athens for over 70 years and taught school for a number of years prior to her first marriage. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and most active in past years in the Ladies Garden Club, various P.T.A. Associations and University of Georgia Faculty Groups. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Oconee Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Grady Wigley officiating. Marceline Kirk Lester Comer Marceline Kirk Lester, 59, of 958 Gholston St., died Sunday, July 18, 1999. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Lester was a daughter of the late David Hadden and Letty Blanche McUrdy Kirk. She was preceded in death by a son, Rickey Lester. She was a textile worker and was of the Christian faith. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Vineyards Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Dial officiating. Fred Otis Sims Athens Fred Otis Sims, 79, of 220 Woody Drive, died Sunday, July 18, 1999. A native of Barrow County, Mr. Sims was a son of the late Thomas and Minnie K. Roberts Sims. He retired as a salesman in the men's department of Belk department store in Gastonia, N.C., and was a veteran of World War II. He was of the Baptist faith. James Thomas Smith died Monday, July 12, 1999. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Mr. Smith was a son of Rebecca Wilkins Smith and the late Chandler Smith.
