Victor Roger Bond, 64, died Thursday, June 17, 1999. A native of Elberton, Mr. Bond worked for NASA and Boeing and taught at various universities. He was the author of a book on astrodynamics, and was active in the "Empty Stocking Fund" program in Dickinson. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Jack Rowe Funeral Home, League City, Tex., with the Rev. Mark Denison officiating. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Neal Bond; two sons, Victor Scott Bond, Atlanta, and Brett Neal Bond, Charlotte, N.C.; and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Victor Roger Bond '56 Library Endowment Fund, Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA 24450-0303. A native of Rabun County, Mr. English was a son of the late Freeman Jasper and Ina Armona Thompson English. He was a graduate of Piedmont College and a member of the Sautee Nacoochee Presbyterian Church. He was retired with 30 years of service as a state social services specialist. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Survivors include three sisters, Bernice English Williams, Burice English Bradshaw, and Joyce English Grist, all of Clayton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Fairfield Baptist Church, Auburn, with the Rev. W. Jennings officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Barrow Memorial Gardens, Winder. Survivors include a daughter, Katrean Johnson, Winder; and two sons, Eugeamus Johnson, Jefferson, and Samuel Johnson, Fort Valley; a brother, Harvey Johnson Jr.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at Eberhart & Son Mortuary, Winder. Rickey Mattox Elberton Rickey Lynn Mattox, 37, of 1710 Wahatchee Creek Road, died Friday, June 18, 1999. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Mattox was a son of the late John Clark Mattox and Sibyl Elizabeth Jennings Mattox Hill. He was an automobile mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Bethel "E" Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Rand Freer officiating. Survivors include his foster parents, S.J. and Shirley Lovinggood, Elberton; two brothers, Doug Mattox and Randy Mattox, both of Elberton; three foster brothers, Joey Lovinggood, Mark Lovinggood, and David Lovinggood, all of Elberton; a grandmother, Lessie Mattox, Elberton; a foster grandfather, Sam Lovinggood, Elberton; and several nieces and nephews. Meyer, 72, of 460 Meyer Farm Road, died Friday, June 18, 1999. A native and life-long resident of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Meyer was a son of the late Charles and Ora Fleming Meyer. He was a member of the Cherokee Corner United Methodist Church, the Lexington Masonic Lodge, and the Oglethorpe Farm Bureau. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Bridges Funeral Home with the Revs. Jim Hinzman and Tom Lang officiating. Burial will be in Arnoldsville Cemetery. She lived most of her life in Stephens County, was retired from Coats and Clark after 42 years of service, and was a member of Carnes Creek Baptist Church.
