A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Barrett was a son of the late Mell Barrett and Eudora Martin Barrett and was the widower of Rachel Faulkner Barrett. He was retired from Elberton Mills and was a member of Philomathea Masonic Lodge No. 25. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, during the attack on Dec. 7, 1941. He was a member of Elberton First Baptist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. C.E. Jackson III and Richard Bradfield officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. Survivors include two sisters, Lila B. Seymour and Kate B. Thomasson, both of Tignall. Barton, 94, of 32 Hart Terrace died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999. A native of Madison County, Mr. Barton was a son of the late Arthur J. and Emma Magbee Barton and was the widower of Mary Lou Dixon Barton. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Hendrick. He was a retired salesman for Manning Brothers and was a former member and past president of the Hartwell Lions Club. He was a member of the Philamathea Masonic Lodge No. 25, where he was a 50-year Master Mason. He was a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church and was a former member of the Baracca Sunday School Class. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Elmhurst Cemetery, Elberton, with the Rev. At the age of eighteen, she was employed as a welder on Liberty Ships, Brunswick. Later, she moved to the Athens area where she spent many hours caring for the elderly in the community.
