Evans Pendergrass Alvin H. Evans, 87, of 1552 Mountain Creek Church Road died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Evans was a son of the late Claude and Mae Holman Evans. He was retired from McEver Packing Co. and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and of Johnny Hill Masonic Lodge. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Myron Leckie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Orene Benson Evans; two daughters, Mary Williams, Talmo, and Sandra Edwards, Woodstock; a son, Roy Evans, Pendergrass; a sister, Ruby Dollar, Coca Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A native of Albany, GA, Mrs. Gossett was the daughter of Antoinette K. Lundy and the late Walter Hillyer Lundy. She was married to David Randall Gossett. They have two children, Meghann V. Gossett and Matthew L. Gossett both of Athens. Mrs. Gossett attended Auburn University and was Vice President of Phi Mu Sorority. She graduated from Akron University with a BS in Education. She was a former educator and most recently was employed by Lane Miller of Athens, GA. She was a former member of Dogwood Garden Club of Griffin, GA, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Athens, and former President of the Episcopal Church Women at St. George's Episcopal Church in Griffin, GA. Mrs. Gossett was an active parishioner at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens, GA and formerly a parishioner at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Albany, GA and St. George's Episcopal Church in Griffin, GA where she also was a member of the choir. Mrs. Gossett is survived by her husband, David Randall Gossett, daughter, Meghann Gossett and son, Matthew Gossett. She is also survived by her mother, Antionette K. Lundy of Albany, GA, a sister, Karen Lundy of Douglasville, GA, and an uncle, Peter Kniskern of Washington, D.C. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 22, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Father Newell Graham, Father Mandy Brady and Father Stacy Sauls officiating.
