A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Rogers was a daughter of the late John and Adale Forsyth Holcomb, and was the widow of Ora Rogers. She was a housewife, and had resided in Athens for one year. Services were held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Forest Park, with the Rev. Charles Campbell officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Louise Gibson, Athens; a son, James O. Rogers, Decatur; a sister, Jeanette Reese, Kingsport, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the donors favorite charity, or to Vista Care Hospice, 2350 Prince Avenue, Suite 5, Athens, GA 30606. Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Scarlette Scarborough Dublin Scarlette Jane Parham Scarborough, 49, formerly of Elberton, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Scarborough was a daughter of the late Jim Eastern Parham and Annie Black Parham. She was a member of Elberton Church of God, was an LPN, and worked in the Day Care Nursery services. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Leon Suttles and Connie Ivester officiating. Survivors include four sons, Amos Scarborough, Atlanta, Bobby Scarborough, Travis Scarborough, and Terry Scarborough, all of Elberton; four brothers, Jim Parham Jr., Samuel Parham, and Johnny Parham, all of Dublin, and David Parham, Hartwell; and four grandchildren. The family; will be at the residence of Terry Scarborough, 1247 Petersburg Road, Elberton, and will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton. Jessie R. Simmons Winterville Jessie R. Simmons, 78, of 715 McCurley Road, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999. A native of White County, Mr. Simmons was a son of the late Henry and Caroline Simmons, and was the widower of Barbara Shelnut Simmons. He was a retired auto mechanic, and was a member of Gordons Chapel United Methodist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Bernstein Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Gordons Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Jessie Diane Brady and Brenda Lee Smith, both of Winterville; two sons, Bobby L. Simmons and Tony Simmons, both of Winterville; and seven grandchildren. Alice Sosebee Toccoa Alice Viola Sosebee, of Black Mountain Road, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999. A native and life-long resident of Stephens County, Miss Sosebee was a daughter of the late Oscar and Lola Ellard Sosebee. She graduate high school in Stephens County and was a graduate of Piedmont College. She taught school in Stephens County, retiring after 49 years of service. She was a member of Old Toccoa Baptist Church, was a Sunday School teacher, music and choir director, bible school director, vacation bible school director, and church treasurer. She was a member of WMU, Liberty Baptist Association, and a member of Singing Saints of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was a member and past president of United Daughters of the Confederacy chapter 1294, member and past treasurer of the local Retired Teachers Association, member and board member of the Teachers Federal Credit Union, and was an Avon representative for 20 years. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Old Toccoa Baptist Church with the Revs. Roger Elrod, Frank Bearden, and Charles Savage officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a sister, Eunice S. Finley, and a brother, John W. Sosebee, both of Toccoa; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be nephews, Freddie Finley, Roger Finley, David Mitchell, Randy Sosebee, Michael Sosebee, and Tony Sosebee.
