A native of McDuffie County, Mrs. Crowley was a daughter of the late J.J. and Viola Davis Farr and was the widow of Harry M. Crowley. She was retired from Aileen's Beauty Shop after 41 years and was a member of East Athens Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Reb. Bill Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Smith, Washington; a son, Jim Crowley, Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Aileen Crowley, Athens; a brother, Hugh Farr, Litchfield Beach, S.C.; three grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to East Athens Baptist Church Building Fund, 4325 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605. Thomas B. Crump Lavonia Thomas B. Crump, 57, of Newton Road, died Sunday, March 21, 1999. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Crump was a son of the late Andy and Eliza Crump. He was a member of New Light Baptist Church. Services will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday at New Light Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Jean Crump; four sons, Curtis Crump, Andy Crump, Steven Crump, and Kenneth Crump; and three grandchildren. The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home, Toccoa. Charlie Gordon Jr. Athens Charlie Gordon Jr., of 216 Evans St., died Saturday, March 20, 1999. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Gordon was a son of the late Charlie Gordon Sr. and Sally Lawrence Gordon. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Rev. Abraham Mosley officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 12 p.m. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Harris Gordon; a niece raised in the home, Freddie Louise Mitchell; three brothers, Willie Gordon, Freddie Gordon, and Seyborn Gordon, all of Athens; a friend, the Rev. A native of White County, Mr. Hardy was a son of the late Bessie Bennett and M.L. Hardy. Pace, Commerce; a son, Roger Hardy, Jefferson; a sister, Eva Toney, Commerce; four brothers, Albert Hardy, Jefferson, Charles Hardy, Nicholson, Roy Hardy, Gastonia, and Talmadge Hardy, Commerce; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. `Billy' Hudson Athens William E. "Billy" Hardy, 85, of 450 Highland Ave., died Sunday, March 21, 1999. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Hudson was a son of the late Edward Bass and Emma Gertrude Ford Hudson and was the widower of Mary Aycock Hudson. Billy graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in agricultural engineering in 1935. He was employed as an instructor in that department in September 1935. With the advent of Pearl Harbor, he was ordered as a 2nd Lt. to active duty in February 1942. He served with the 15th Cavalry Regiment and was discharged with the rank of Lt. Col. at Fort Gordon, Ga., in 1946. Returning to the University of Georgia, he was asked to take over the duties of Campus Planning and Development of the University of Georgia, from which he retired in December 1981. He was president of the Athens-Clarke Community Council on Aging and was president of the Northeast Georgia Boy Scout Council. He was a member of the Athletic Board of the University of Georgia and was a lifelong member of the Athens First United Methodist Church and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was honored with the U.S. Bronze Star and the French Croix de Gurerre Medal. He was a lifelong member of Athens First United Methodist Church. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Athens First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Bill Britt, Grady Wigley and Milton Mills officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter and a son-in-law, Helen Hudson and Milton Mills, Athens; a son and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Edward and Marcia Hudson, Forest Park; two brothers, John Howard Hudson, Milledgeville, and James Tidwell Hudson, San Bernardino, Calif.; three grandchildren, Sherri McGowan, Wes Hudson and Scott Hudson; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tim Cooper, David Clements, Horace Carter, Dr. Fred C. Davison, Wes Hudson and Scott Hudson. A native of Nickles, Fla., Mr. Melton was a son of the late Andrew and Corrie Hood Melton. He was a member of Ruckersville United Methodist Church and was a retired salesman for Sears with 32 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a member of the Lions Club for 28 years, and was a Light House for the Blind representative. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Berry Funeral Home, with the Revs. Stan Hamilton, Dan Fernandez and Jimmy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Ruckersville United Methodist Church cemetery. Eddie Lee Morgan Jefferson Eddie Lee Morgan, 82, of 1279 Ethridge Road, died Sunday, March 21, 1999. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Morgan was a son of the late Eddie Lee and Lucille Lavender Morgan Sr. He was retired from the federal government, was a member of Galilee Christian Church, and was a U.S. Air Force bombardier veteran of World War II. He was an avid tree farmer and gardener. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Galilee Christian Church, with the Rev. Tom Plank officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mary Wills Morgan; and a brother, Max W. Morgan, Athens. Mable Robinson Athens Mable Robinson, 86, of 291 Colima Ave., died Saturday, March 20, 1999. A native of Oconee County, Ms. Robinson was a daughter of the late Lugenia and Emory Robinson. Survivors include three sisters, Agnes Payne, Athens, and Mendora Robinson and Mopsy Jackson, both of Atlanta; a brother, Emory Robinson Jr., Chicago, Ill.; nieces and nephews. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Scott was a son of Emma Clark Scott of Toccoa and the late Dave Scott. He was employed by Gem Southeast for a number of years and was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ty Childers officiating. Burial will be in Zebulon Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Annette McCurry Scott; a daughter, Karen Stanford, Martin; a sister, Martha Barrett, Toccoa; and two brothers, Leon Scott and Ervin Scott, both of Toccoa. Wilbert G. Vandiver Athens Wilbert Garrett Vandiver, 83, of 565 Vincent Drive, died Thursday, March 18, 1999. A native of Hall County, Mr. Vandiver was a son of the late Garrett and Eula Irvin Vandiver. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Vandiver. He was retired from maintenance with the Clarke County Housing Authority, was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. He worked with Akin Concrete for many years and resided in Athens most of his life. Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bernstein Funeral Home, with the Rev. Crist Camden officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
