A native of Hartwell, Mr. Allen was a son of Caldonia Allen, Hartwell, and the late Hodges Gaines. He was a member of Maple Spring Baptist Church. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. today at Maple Spring Baptist Church, Elbert County, with the Rev. Anthony Granberry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Elizabeth Allen, Garner, N.C.; two sons, Charlie J. Allen Jr., Garner, N.C., and Calvin Allen, New York, N.Y.; two daughters, Cotrina Allen, Garner, N.C., and Bonnie Allen, Hartwell; four sisters, Emma Brooks, Atlanta, Louise Allen, Decatur, Mildred Goss and Idell Morrison, both of Hartwell; a brother, James Morrison, Hartwell; and three grandchildren. A native of Anderson County, S.C., Mrs. Atkins was a daughter of the late Howard Johnson and Ruby Mae Scoggins Christian and was the widow of Ray Atkins. She was a homemaker and a member of the Victory Baptist Church, Lavonia. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Hamby Funeral Home, Lavonia, with the Rev. Ken White officiating. Burial will be in the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery, Bowman. Survivors include three sisters, Estelle Canady, Carnesville, Hazel Giede and Myrtle Harris, both of Lavonia; four brothers, Boyce Christian, Johnny Christian, and Bobby Christian, all of Hartwell, and Kenneth Christian, Greer, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Jack Daniel Athens Samuel Jack Daniel, 17, of 235 Best Drive, died Friday, May 21, 1999. A native and lifelong resident of Athens, Mr. Daniel was a son of Eugene Jackson and Evelyn Linda Clark Daniel of Athens. He was a carrier for the Athens Banner-Herald. Leila Jackson Dyer Baldwin Leila Jackson Dyer, 87, died Friday, May 21, 1999 A native of White County, Mrs. Dyer was a daughter of the late Rustin and Bonnie Freeman Jackson and was the widow of Ben Dyer. He was a retired truck driver with B&W Gas Company and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, was a member of the Athens VFW Post and the A.K. Coon Hunters Club. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. today at Faith Baptist Church, Bowman, wit the Revs. Milton Bagwell and Robert Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
