A native of Clarke County, Mr. Davenport was a son of the late Margaret and Anthony Davenport. He had lived in Fulton County for the last five years. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Morton Chapel Baptist Church, with the Revs. David Sims Jr. and William Johnson officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his daughter, Margaret I. Smith, Atlanta; two sons, Talmadge Davenport, Battle Creek, Mich., and James E. Davenport Sr., Athens; ten grandchildren, including two raised in the home, Lillie Howard Moore, Atlanta, and Winston Howard, Athens; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family is at the residence of James E. Davenport Sr., 152 Arch St., Athens. Hurley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Troy Weyman Porterfield Sr. Colbert Troy Weyman Porterfield Sr., 86, of 2nd Ave., died Friday, July 23, 1999. A native of Madison County, Mr. Porterfield was a son of the late Carl W. Porterfield and Mozelle Barnette Porterfield. He was the owner of Athens Seed Co., managed several real estate properties, and was a member of Colbert Baptist Church. He was the oldest charter member of the Colbert Lions Club. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Porterfield Lacy. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Colbert Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Fuller officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Colbert Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Collier Porterfield; a son, Troy W. Porterfield Jr., Athens; a brother, R.W. Porterfield, Athens; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Troy Porterfield III, Wesley Porterfield, James Lacy, Paul Burroughs, James Simmons, and Jimmy Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class of Colbert Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Brown's Funeral Home, Danielsville. Troy Weyman Porterfield Sr. Colbert Troy Weyman Porterfield Sr., a life-long resident of Colbert and a long time prominent businessman in Athens died Friday, July 23, 1999, in The Mews at Social Circle. He owned and operated Athens Seed Co. and was active in several real estate properties in Athens and the surrounding areas. He was born in Colbert on Jan. 31, 1913. . Mr. Porterfield was a son of the late Carl W. Porterfield and Mozelle Barnette Porterfield. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Lacy. He was a faithful member and deacon of the Colbert Baptist Church and served as chairman of the Deacons and in many other leadership positions. Troy and his wife, Mildred, were also faithful to their community, and their many efforts to improve and make more beautiful their beloved Colbert will long be remembered. For many years, they provided initiative and leadership in the Fourth of July celebrations in Colbert, an event attended each year by many thousands. Troy was a member and past president of the local Lions Club, and spent many hours working on civic projects. There were many interests in his life beyond family, church, and community. These included farming, showing Tennessee Walking horses, raising Black Angus cattle, gardening, and hand painting china. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Colbert Baptist Church, with the Rev. A native of Madison County, Mr. Scarborough was a son of the late Silas Benjamin and Mae Chastain Scarborough. He was a retired farmer and was of the Methodist faith. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Friendship Baptist Church, Danielsville, with the Revs. Dayton Logan and Lonnie Bennett officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Vivian Wood Scarborough; two daughters, Louise Gueth, Comer, and Martha Adams, Danielsville; five sons, James Scarborough, Hull, Ernest Scarborough and Johnny Scarborough, both of Comer, Kenneth Scarborough, Danielsville, and Charles Scarborough, Ila; a sister, Myrtie Alewine, Crawford; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. David Kim Smith Ila David Kim Smith, 41, of 4730 Danielsville St., died Saturday, July 24, 1999. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Smith was the son of Lucille Hanley Smith of Ila and the late Joseph F. Smith. He was a construction worker and was of the Christian faith. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brown's Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Roy Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Ila Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two brothers, William J. Smith and Steve D. Smith, both of Ila, and a nephew, Stephen D. Smith II. Curtis Stowe Cornelia Curtis Stowe, 73, died Friday, July 23, 1999. A native of Wilcox County, Mr. Stowe was a son of the late Gordon and Hattie Mae Williams Stowe. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Chicopee with 28 years of service. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Whitfield Funeral Home, Demorest, with the Revs. J.R. Elrod and Johnny Loudermilk officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Vera Brady Stowe; a son, Bobby Stowe, Clarkesville; two brothers, Ellis Stowe, Panama City, Fla., and Bruce Stowe, Alto; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
