He was a graduate of Hickory High School and Clevenger College. He was a retired representative for Wilson Meat Packing and Sporting Goods for 24 years and was a part-time employee of Wal-mart. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and Hartwell Post VFW. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Meeks officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Brown Barger; a daughter, Marsha Ann Reece, Seneca, S.C.; two sons, Charles R. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Jordan was a son of the late Thomas and Estelle Cash Jordan and was the widower of Gladys Mae Jordan and Winifred Agnes Stephens Jordan. He was a former member of Hillstreet Baptist Church and was retired from Union Oil. He was also retired from the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He worked for St. Regis Paper Co. in New York and completed his career in the paper industry as a research chemist for Continental Can Co. in Chicago.
