A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Alewine was a daughter of the late Eugene and Nettie Woods Herring and was the widow of William Thomas Alewine. She was retired from Lavonia Manufacturing Co. and attended Faith Presbyterian Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hamby Funeral Home, Lavonia, with the Rev. Joe Renfro officiating. Burial will be in Lavonia City Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Susan Horsley, Athens, Wanda Herron, Eastanollee, and Joy Lewallen, Lavonia; a son, Tommy Alewine, Lavonia; a sister, Sara Jernigan, Lavonia; and five brothers, Howard Herring, Billy Herring and Herman Herring, all of Lavonia, Charles Herring, Hartwell, and James Herring, Martin. The family is at their respective residences. John Willie Barnett Winterville John Willie Barnett, 66, of 1405 Murrell Road died Sunday, May 23, 1999. A lifelong resident of Clarke County, Mr. Barnett was a son of Dollie Mae Moon. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hurley Funeral Home with the Rev. James Washington officiating. She was employed at Seaboard Farms and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Harper was a son of the late Bunnie Lewis Harper Sr. and Walla Mae Draper Harper and was the widower of Clorine Pruitt Harper. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Oglethorpe County. He was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran of World War II. Rainwater, 11, of 2012 Euclid St. died Saturday, May 22, 1999. Randolph was a son of Needa Rainwater of Statham. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairfield Baptist Church with the Rev. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Robinson was a daughter of the late Mary Gillisby. She was a member of Russell Chapel A.M.E. Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Russell Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Charles Dickey officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Friendship Church Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Johnny Robinson, Chicago, Ill.; and seven grandchildren. The family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davenport, 148 Upon St. Jones Lexington Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Harry W. Yoder Jr. Athens Harry W. Yoder, Jr., 70, of 360 Brookwood Drive, died May 27. Born Aug. 2, 1928 in Chicago, IL, Dr. Yoder was the son of the late Harry W. and Mary Hurst Yoder, Sr. He grew up in Mt. Morris, Ill. He received a BS degree in 1950 from the Univ. of Illinois and a DVM degree in 1954 from Iowa State Univ. He served 2 years at the Walter Reed Institute of Research in Washington, D.C. and then returned to Iowa State Univ. and received his Ph.D. in Microbiology in 1963. In 1965 the family moved to Athens where Dr. Yoder was employed as a Research Veterinarian at the USDA-ARS-Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory for 28 years. As a member of the American Association of Avian Pathologists, he served in numerous capacities, including President. He was very honored to have been a co-editor of four editions of "Diseases of Poultry". After retiring, Dr. Yoder had more time to devote to the more important things in life: fishing, woodworking and carving; helping family and friends; collecting and restoring antiques; and even delivering fresh-picked strawberries in his green pick-up truck. Memorial services will be private. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 PM at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East.
