A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Calhoun was a son of the late Ben Joe and Mary Ann Walton Calhoun. He was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church in Carlton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lofton Grove Baptist Church, with the Revs. John Strong, Michael Routh, Dennis Long and Cotrell Harper Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Heights Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Doris C. Routh, Elberton, Delois Long, and Eunice Long, both of Carlton; a brother, Solomon Calhoun, Carlton; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Dennis Lee Edwards Jefferson Dennis Lee Edwards, 68, 2881 Georgia Highway 82 North, died Sunday, June 27, 1999. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Edwards was a son of the late Samuel Preston and Della Church Edwards. He was retired from the poultry industry, was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Evans Funeral Home, with the Revs. Wesley Purcell, Luther Williams and Thomas Doster officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Poole Edwards; two daughters, Sheila Lane, Jefferson, and Melinda Satterfield, Maysville; two sons, Matthew Edwards and Phillip Edwards, both of Jefferson; three brothers, William Edwards and James Edwards, both of Jefferson, and Doug Edwards, Spartanburg, S.C.; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Frank Gaines Hartwell Frank William Gaines, 76, of 3470 Cokesbury Highway, died Sunday, June 27, 1999. A native of Hart County, Mr. Gaines was a son of the late Leonard and Mae Stamp Gaines. He was retired from City of Hartwell Sanitation Department and was a farmer. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men's Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Cokesbury United Methodist Church with the Revs. Al Key and Curtis Parker officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mayola Lawrence Gaines; three daughters, Patricia Parker, Comer, Connie Eaves and Brenda Carruth, both of Hartwell; a son, Ricky Gaines, Hartwell; and seven grandchildren. A native of Walton County, Mr. Jackson was a son of the late Oscar Benjamin and Jettie Mae Knight Jackson. Services were Saturday at Meadows Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Bolton officiating. Burial was in Corinth Christian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to help cover funeral expenses. Jeff T. Little Athens Jeff Turner Little, 88, of 138 Valleywood Drive, died Monday, June 28, 1999. Mr. Little, a native of Franklin County, was the son of the late Neal and Martha Jane (Pattie) Little. He was retired from Georgia Vitrified Brick & Clay Co., Harlem, Georgia, where he served for many years as Plant Manager. He was a former member of the Harlem, Georgia City Council and a Past President of the Harlem Rotary Club who, in 1982, named him a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He was a Past Master of Harlem Masonic Lodge #276 and a member of the Athens First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Fellowship Class. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth Martin Little; two daughters, Carole L. Partridge, Newark, Delaware, and Rebecca L. Snot, Athens; two sons-in-law, Fletcher W. Partridge, Newark, Delaware, and Ralph M. Snow Jr., Athens; a sister, Mary Neal McCay, Toccoa; six grandchildren, Holly Hill, Rock Hill, South Carolina, Jill Clarke, Ocean View, New Jersey, Melissa Partridge, Newark, Delaware, Whit Partridge, Parkersburg, West Virginia, Pattie Thurston, Athens and Matt Snow, Raleigh, North Carolina; 11 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard P. Young. He was self-employed as a cabinetmaker. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bernstein Funeral Home, with the Rev. Howard Garrison officiating.
