A native of Oconee County, Mr. Gordon was a son of the late Mr. Emory E. and Claude Gordon. He graduated from the University of Georgia and was a member of the Chi Alpha Fraternity. He attended the first Public Relations School in the United States at Boston. He was a founding member of the Ga. Chapter of Public Relations, served in the US Navy during WWII and served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in Public Relations from 1948-1951, and was a member of Lutheran Church of the Ascension. Graveside services will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington Memorial Park, Arlington, Va., with the Rev. David Kruse officiating. Survivors include his wife, Vivian P. Gordon, Atlanta; a daughter, Brooke Deardorff, Molalla, Ore.; two sons, Terry Gordon, Stone Mountain, and Richard Gordon, Marietta; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was born in Hart County, GA, Feb. 10, 1917, the only daughter of the late T.J. ''Tom'' and Flora Lankford Dowis. She was preceded in death by brothers W.O. ''Wallace'' Dowis of Elberton, GA, James T. ''Jim'' Dowis, Lavonia, GA, Paul W. Dowis, Fort Pierce, Fla., and Bonner ''Yank'' Dowis, Hollywood, GA. She lived all her life in Franklin and Hart Counties. She was a seamstress at Carwood Manufacturing Company and Stonewear Apparel and was affiliated with Ron's Flowers until her retirement. She was a previous member of the Northeast Georgia Florist Association and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Lavonia, GA.
