Frank Veal Colbert A. Frank Veal, 75, died Sunday, July 30, 2000. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Veal was a son of the late Willie Bell Archer and Howard Veal. He was a retired paramedic and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Colbert Volunteer Fire Department and Colbert Lions Club, and a member and deacon of Athens First Christian Church. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today at Athens First Christian Church with the Rev. Ray Austin officiating. Survivors include his wife, Betty Thompson Veal; a son, Timothy F. Veal, Colbert; a foster daughter, Susan Newman, Athens; two sisters, Joyce Nash, Marietta, and Ida Lee Jackson, Cornelia; and two brothers, Hershel Archer, Jonesboro, and Tony Archer, Elberton. Members of Colbert Volunteer Fire Department and Madison County Ambulance Service will serve as honor guard. A native of Georgia and devoted Georgia Bulldog fan, Larry was granted his lifelong wish to retire and spend his final years with his family and cherished Pekingese, Kubla Khan Fu Moon IV, in Athens, GA. In lieu of flowers, his beloved wife, Angie Moon, sons Garry and Derek, daughter Angie Moon de Avila, granddaughter Angelita Isabel Avila, Son-in-Law Jorge Avila, Daughter-in-Law Yassinet Gutierrez, request that memorials be made to the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine Sundown Surgery Fund, Athens GA 30602, (706) 542-5528. This fund provides financial assistance to individuals who have a strong human bond with a pet that has a good prognosis of recovery. A grandfather, brilliant mathematician, an avid reader and a formidable cook, he most enjoyed the time spent with his granddaughter ''Nena'' and frequent visits to the local public library. In 1953 he was an Air Force Aviation Cadet stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Angie. He was also an accountant and alumni of the University of Utah. But most of all, he was a devoted husband, and father and friend to all. A Memorial Service will be held at Bernstein Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 2, 7:30 p.m. The family will receive guests prior to and immediately following Wednesday's celebration. As the services will be held after work hours, casual dress is suggested. Guests are encouraged to bring any photos they wish to share with the family.
