Hughs, 89, of 252 Parkway Drive, Athens died Sunday, February 27, 2000. A native of Ruston, LA, Mrs. Hughs was the daughter of the late John Will and Gussie L. Ramage Barnard and the widow of the late Major M.P. Hughs. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy H. Rice. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Masters Degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Mrs. Hughs was a retired social worker from Family and Children Services and a member of First United Methodist Church of Athens. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Grady Wigley officiating. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Jimmy Duncan, Winter Springs, FL; three grandsons, Todd Duncan, Craig Duncan, and Chad Duncan; a great-grandson, Dalton Duncan.
