A native of Anderson, S.C., Mr. Parson was a son of the late Paul and Mary Helen Mann Parson. He was a retired body and fenderman and a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 of Gainesville, the American Legion Post in Banks County and Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Revs. Ralph O. Smith and James Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Magdalene Morris Parson; two sons, Dexter Parson and Danny Parson, both of Lula; and five grandchildren. A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Thornton was a son of the late Tommie Phillip and Nina Virginia Walker Thornton. He was a lifelong resident of the Sandtown Community in Wilkes County, was an army veteran and was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Fishing Creek Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Roy Cates officiating. She was a homemaker who lived most of her life in Stephens County where she was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. A native of Hall County, he was the son of the late Ernest M. Dillard and Ruby Corine Reynolds Dillard. A resident of Oconee County most of his life, he was a retired funeral home assistant and cemetery salesman for Bernstein Funeral Home, Arthur Bowick Funeral Home and Oconee Memorial Park. He had previously been employed at J. Swanton Ivy Company as an auto salesman and at Radio Station WMOQ as an announcer. He was a member of the Living Word Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville. The Rev. Larry Davison and the Rev. Buford Lockman will officiate. Interment will be in Oconee Memorial Park. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Greg and Lynn Dillard of Bishop, and Randy and Debbie Dillard of Watkinsville; and three grandchildren.
