A native of Greene County, Mrs. Perteet was the daughter of the late Henry and Sadie Harris Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jesse Perteet and a son, Henry Jack Perteet. Mrs. Perteet was a bookkeeper for E & S Tire Company and also for Perteet T.V. She, along with Jack Perteet and A.J. Perteet, founded Perteet T.V. in the 1950's. She was a founding member of Forest Heights Baptist Church, originally Boulevard Baptist Church and later Talmadge Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Perteet is survived by a daughter, Carole Parker of Bogart; grandchildren, Dyonne Van Thiel of Snellville, Lynn Beard of Winterville, and Angie Wheless of Danielsville, and Christopher Keith Nowlen of Statham; seven great-grandchildren: Health Williams, Michelle Smith, Mandy Mann, Jon Nowlen, Natasha Nowlen, Austin Wheless, and Bryan Beard; a brother, Coolidge Jackson of Social Circle, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. ''Jiggs'' Richards, age 80, of Athens, GA died Thursday, November 30, 2000 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Richards was born in Athens, GA on May 15, 1920 and was the son of Goldie B. Richards and the late Walter H. Richards. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Mr. Richards served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was the original owner of the Basketeria on Lumpkin Street in the 1940's and 1950's and was original owner of the Quality Market on Winterville Road in Athens. Mr. Richards was a charter member of Saint James United Methodist Church in Athens and attended Dundee Methodist Church in Lake Wales, Florida. In former years he was a member of the Choir and a Lay Leader at St. James United Methodist Church in Athens. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jewell Haynes Richards of Athens, his mother, Mrs. Goldie B. Richards of Athens, who is 102 years old, and two brothers Allwyne B. ''Pete'' Richards of Athens and Jack C. Richards of Gastonia, NC. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Bill and Camilla Seabolt of Vienna, VA, Judy and Emmitt Sherling of Danville, GA, Jack and Ann Richards of Winter Springs, FL, Beverly Eady of Gastonia, NV, Allwyne and Peggy Ann Richards of Figuay-Varina, NC, Mary and James Dudley of Gastonia, NC, as well as fifteen great nieces and nephews along with nine great-great nieces and nephews.
