Sanders Bowersville V.B. Sanders, 84, of 3106 Bowersville Highway, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000. A native of Citrus County, Fla., Mrs. Sanders was a daughter of the late R.L. and Viney Sanders Scruggs, and was the widow of Corrie Sanders. She was a homemaker and a member of the Nancy Hart Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Flat Shoals Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and was a member of the WMU. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Flat Shoals Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Merle Sanders, Hartwell; a son, Donald Sanders, Bowersville; two grandsons raised in the home, Robert Cornett and Gregg Cornett; three additional grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Dudley was a son of the late Henry Martin and Gertrude Adams Dudley, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Del Dudley. He was the retired owner of H.E. Dudley Landscape Company and was a World War II army veteran. He was a member of the 693rd Field Artillery Battalion and served in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns, and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and a Combat Infantry Badge. He attended Arnoldsville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Services will be Monday at Arnoldsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Fite officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
