She was a native of Richmond County, daughter of the late Azzie Lee Hollis. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Nimno A.M.E. Church, Center, GA. Rev. Dr. Sarah Billups will officiate. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery. The remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon. A native of Laurel, Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late Agnes McKee, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Clinton and Isaac James McKee. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:17 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2000 Harold Forrester Athens Harold Lloyd (Joe) Forrester, age 78, of 2360 Atlanta Highway died Wednesday, November 1, 2000. Mr. Forrester, a native of Hall County, had lived here in Athens most of his life. He was the son of the late Marcus and Amanda Blalock Forrester. He served with the 99th Infantry Division, Company C 393 during the Normandy Invasion. He was wounded in battle defending the Siegfried line during the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his valor. After service he worked for and retired from the United States Post Office as a mail carrier after 30 years of service. He was very active in veteran activities both locally and state wide. He was past commander of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 2872 in Athens. He has the honor of being the only All American Post Commander the local VFW post has ever had. He was a member of the Military Order of the Cootie. He took pride in serving as the Americanism Officer for the local VFW. In this position he would go into the local schools and teach Americanism classes to the students. He was Mr. VFW for the State of Georgia in 1997-1998. The highest honor afforded by the State VFW. He gave countless hours of his time to help local veterans by driving them to and from any Veteran Administration Hospital for treatment. He was a past president of the 99th Infantry Division Survivors and was instrumental in bringing this group to Georgia for their annual meetings several times. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was past Chairman and Service Officer for the Clarke County Veterans Council. He had been Past Commander and was currently the finance officer for the American Legion Post 20. He was very active in American Legion Baseball here in Athens for years. He had several players that he coached play baseball in the major leagues. He had served as past commander of the local Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2 and was a member of the AMVETS Post 10. He was also a member of the Stone Lodge # 715 in New Holland, Georgia. Survivors include two sons, Keith Forrester, Watkinsville and Alex Forrester, Athens. 5 Brothers, Wilbert (Rodie) Forrester, Burl Forrester and John Forrester all of Griffin, Gene Forrester, Warner Robins and Bobby Joe Forrester, North, VA.
