Williams Athens Mildred Mae Williams, 85, of 365 Greencrest Drive died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000. A native of Tell City, Ind., Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late Herbert and Mamie Bruner Miller. She was a homemaker and was a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Beech Haven Baptist Church with Dr. Stewart Simms officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, Howard Y. Williams; two daughters, Jean W. Stanley, Athens, and Karen W. Parrish, Jefferson; two sons, Thomas H. Williams, Watkinsville, and John C. Williams, Corbin, Ky.; a sister, Hazel Kuhs, Prattville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Gotsis, Grady Cooper, H.E. Turner, Marion Ivey Sr., Clarence Ellard and Buck Moore. A native of Elbert County, Mr. McCall was a son of the late L. Gulmer and Woodfin Atkinson McCall. He was a stone cutter in the granite industry, was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Bethlehem United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Alvin Taylor officiating. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Bailey McCall; two daughters, April M. Neal, Bowman, and Kelly M. Gary, Elberton; two sisters, Jerrie Fleming, Starr, S.C., and Betty M. McCalla, Greenwood, S.C.; and three grandchildren. A native of Hall County, Mr. Phillips was a son of the late Norman and Emma Lou Ayers Phillips. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War having obtained the rank of sergeant. He spent his career with Alterman Foods and was named vice president in 1980. He was a member of Atlanta First United Methodist Church. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 4:49 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2000 Mildred O. Collins Athens Mrs. Mildred O. Collins, a native of Athens, GA, died Sunday October 1, 2000, she was 94. Mrs. Collins was the daughter of the late William and Pearl Hardigree Oldham. Mrs. Collins was born March 17, 1906, in Athens, GA, and attended Public Schools in Winder, GA, where she graduated from Winder High School. She then graduated from Brenau College in Gainesville, GA. Mrs. Collins taught in public schools in Barrow, Clarke and Hall Counties and retired from this profession. She was very active in the First Christian Church of Athens as a pianist and a soloist. She was predeceased by her husband: Tom W. Collins Sr., a daughter Frances Collins and a son Thomas Collins, Jr. Survivors include her son, Larry Collins and his wife Phyllis of Greensboro, NC, a daughter-in-law, Virginia Collins of Hampton, GA, the widow of the late Thomas Collins Jr., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until time of the service on Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at Bridges Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Bridges Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 4, 2000, with the Rev. Ray Austin officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
