A native of Dallas, Mr. Decker was a son of the late John Harvey and Katherine Miller Decker. He was a semi-retired pastor with 45 years of service and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:01 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2000 Beulah Lilly Evans Athens Mrs. Beulah Lilly Evans, age 90, of Athens, GA passed away Sunday, January 2, 2000, in Union General Hospital, Blairsville, Ga., after a brief illness. Mrs. Evans was born in Clarke County, Georgia, on July 27, 1909, and lived there until June, 1998. She was the daughter of Frederick Alonzo Lilly and Iola Butler Lilly and was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert Hughes Evans, Sr. Mrs. Evans spent her life being a devoted wife and mother. She loved gardening. For many years she and her husband grew flowers for the Athens area florists and citizens. She loved sharing her flowers for weddings, church, school, and civic organizations of the Gaines School Community where she lived most of her life. She was a member of the Tuckston United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick E. Lilly of Athens and two sisters, Kathleen Lilly of Athens and Maude Scott of Hartwell, GA. Mrs. Evans is survived by one son, Robert (Bob) Hughes Evans, Jr., Monroe, GA, two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Edwards of Cartersville, GA. and Mrs. Rebecca Stone of Blairsville, GA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Diane Shelton, Kennesaw, GA, David Edwards, Santa Clarita, CA, Drew Edwards, Atlanta, GA, Robert (Chip) Hughes Evans, III, Lilburn, GA., Hugh William Stone, Jr., Blairsville, GA., and Elizabeth (Beth) Stone, Blairsville, Ga.
