Ralph J. Bowles, 85, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Bowles was a son of the late J.T. and Emma Herndon Bowles Jr., was the widower of Geraldine Hill Bowles and was preceded in death by a son, David Bowles. A longtime resident of Winder, he was a retired funeral director and pastor of several baptist churches in Oconee, Calvary, Cabin Creek, Pleasant Grove and Nicholson. He was a member of Winder First Baptist Church and Winder Masonic Lodge 333 F & AM. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Winder First Baptist Church with the Revs. Bob Wagnon, Kenneth Deaton and John Talley officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
