A native of Hart County, Mrs. Cheek was a daughter of the late Charlie C. and Mary Ethel Cornell Shiflet and was the widow of King David Cheek. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Montine Cheek Adams. She was a homemaker and was a former correspondent for Hartwell Sun, covering Bowersville for over 30 years. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member and pianist. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Revs. Ben Coleman, David Wilson and Connie Mack Bowers officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was a former member of UDC. Mrs. McClain was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She also taught Sunday School and was a youth leader in several churches throughout the Southeast as she traveled with her husband. Funeral services will be Friday, July 7, 2000 at 11:00 AM at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Richard McFall officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
