A native of Madison County, Mr. Coile was a son of L.E. Dixon Coile, Comer, and the late Joe Alson Coile. He was a campus transit bus driver for the University of Georgia. He was a member, former deacon and youth van driver at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of major and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a former member of American Legion and Sylvester Kiwanis Club. He was retired as an automobile salesperson, where he handled automobile financing. He was a member of Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church. Dorothy Field, Ph.D., formerly of Athens, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2000. Mrs. Field was an adjunct professor in the Department of Child and Family Development and Institute of Gerontology at the University of Georgia from 1992-1995. She was Director of the Berkeley Older Generation Study, one of the world's longest longitudinal studies of adult development, following several hundred individuals through many decades of their lives. She was a graduate of Smith College, University of California Berkeley and earned her Ph.D. in developmental psychology at the University of London in 1975. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at All Souls Church, Berkeley. She was the widow of the late Mr. Andrew Floyce Haygood, the owner and operator of Haygood Shoes for over thirty years. Mrs. Haygood was a member of the First Baptist Church of Athens, where she was secretary of the M & M Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church, and a member of the Women's Missionary Union at the First Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Lt. Col. retired Andrew Bonner Haygood of Jonesboro, a sister, Margaret Malcom of Monroe, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
