A native of Clarke County, Mr. Lavender was a son of Mary J. Lipham Lavender of Athens and the late Leroy Lavender. He owned and operated City Wide Wrecker Service for 29 years and was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Services will be at Monday at 1 p.m. at Prince Avenue Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Ricketts and Joe Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include the mother of his children, Deborah Lavender, Athens; a daughter, Deborah Michelle Maginnis, Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Michael Lavender Jr., Athens, and Matthew Lavender, Bogart; four sisters, Brenda Porter, Ellaville, Dot Hadaway, St. Mary's, Nancy Howard and Barbara Finnan, both of Athens; and a brother, David Lavender, Athens. A native of Hall County, Ms. McDuffie was a daughter of the late Arthur and Josie Wade Pierce and was the widow of Jimmy McDuffie. She was a nursing assistant at Scenic View Health Care Center for a number of years and was member of Alto Baptist Church. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Alto Baptist Church with the Revs. Sanford Kimbrell and Michael Parker officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ernest Ivester officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Monday. A native of Valdosta, Ms. Brown was a daughter of the late Harley and Nina Brooks DeVane. She was the widow of Raymond Walter Brown and was preceded in death by a son, Ray Brooks Brown. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Burial will be announced at a a later date. Survivors include three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Milam was a daughter of the late Chester and Ruth Glasure Carson. She was a graduate of Flora McDonald College in Red Springs, N.C., was formerly a member of Hebron Presbyterian church and was the director of Christian education at Annie Linley, Varennes, Flatrock, Mt. Zion, Townville, Nell Townsend and Fairplay Presbyterian churches. She was a farmer and was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, Sandy Springs, where she served as elder, Sunday School teacher and president of the Presbyterian Women. She was firefighter, chairman of the board, auxiliary president and treasurer of the Sandy Springs volunteer fire department. She was president and treasurer of the Hebron Historical Society, commissioner and secretary of the Anderson County Museum, president of the La France Elementary PTA and member of numerous Foothills Prebyterian committees. She conducted genealogical research, authored A Dipper of Reflection from Sandy Springs and co-authored Hebron Presbyterian Church, God's Pilgrim People. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Zion Presbyterian Church, Anderson, S.C., with the Revs. Mark George and Robert Taylor officiating. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Harper Milam; two sons, William Milam of Knoxville, Tenn. and Stephen Milam of Salisbury, N.C.; a daughter, Elizabeth Milam Lomas of Sandy Springs and two brothers, William Carson of Commerce and Roy Coker of Charlotte, N.C.; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Cartey was born in Banks County, Georgia, June 2, 1916, the daughter of the late Mr. Lon and Nancy C. Brown Massey. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and had retired from Macy's Department Store after thirty years of service. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law Maurice & Rosana Cartey of Athens, GA and Phil & Cathy Cartey of Watkinsville, GA; five grandchildren, Beth Cartey, Jenny Cartey, Ricky Rice, Mark Rice, and Debbie Barecky, three great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil M. A native of the Federal Republic of Germany, she was the daughter of the late Gutav Kochanski and Anna Kochanski. She was a retired restaurant operator and had resided in Oconee County for the past eight years, moving from New York. She was of the Catholic faith. Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville. Father Jack McDowell will be the officiant. The remains will be cremated. Surviving are one daughter: Frances Keisel of Watkinsville; one son: Clinton Blohm of Seattle, Wash.; one sister: Herta Zahn of Kirkland, Wash.; three grandchildren: Collette Keisel, Frank Keisel and James Keisel.
