Major Ronel James ''Jim'' Hill, retired, 57, of 2068 Bond Drive died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000. A native of Kansas City, Mo., Mr. Hill was a son of the late Dockie Young Brewer. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit of Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He was a craftsman employed by Whitworth Detention Center, Hartwell. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, with the Rev. Terry Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., with full military honors. Survivors include his wife, Julia Goodnoe Hill. He was retired as a general agent from Hartwell Railway. He was a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Wallace White Sunday School Class and was former Sunday school superintendent. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Hartwell First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jan Devereaux and Barry Brown officiating. Copeland Woodstock Bertha Elizabeth Copeland, 85, of 1058 Arnold Mill Road died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000. A native of Greene County, Miss Copeland was a daughter of the late Henry Wilbur and Nelle Waldroop Copeland. She attended Draughn's Business College, was a lifelong member of Siloam Methodist Church and was retired. She helped establish the Georgia drivers licensing system during the administration of Governor Ed Rivers. She was founder and owner of Custom Cal Co., which published fund-raising calendars for school clubs and organizations nationwide. She co-founded, co-owned and co-operated Lickskillet Farm Restaurant, Roswell. She also co-authored the Lickskillet Farm Cookbook. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Siloam Cemetery with the Rev. Formerly a resident of Clearwater, FL, and Braintree, MA, she had resided in the Athens area for four years. Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of the late Mary J. (Preshong) and William P. Sangeleer of Belmont, MA. She was pre-deceased in death by her husband, Kenneth Ingersoll Wilson, a grandson, Danny Williams and seven siblings. Mrs. Wilson's survivors include daughter and husband, Carolyn W. and Larry L. Hatfield of Maxeys, GA; daughter Barbara W. Smith of Sanford, ME, and son and wife, William K. and Betty Sue Wilson of Walterboro, SC. She is survived by four grandchildren, David Williams of Dracut MA, Holly Hentges of Diamond Bar, CA, and Beth Friend and Rick Wilson of Walterboro SC. She had seven great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Erica Parrinello of Maxeys, GA, Sean Coker of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Ryan and Marissa Williams of Dracut, MA, and Kristen and Dustin Hentges of Diamond Bar, CA. She has three surviving siblings, Gerard, Eileen, and Leo Sangeleer all of MA. She has many surviving nieces and nephews. Interment of her ashes will be at a later date in Walterboro, SC.
