A native of Habersham County, Mr. Carter was a son of Myrtle Holland Carter, Toccoa, and the late Henry Cander Carter. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was self-employed. He was a member and deacon of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Revs. Donald Holbrooks and Roy Bainey officiating. A native of Athens, Mr. Kiser was a son of the late Virgil Lee and Etta Kiser. He was an ordained Baptist minister and served as Houston County coroner for two years. He was a retired colonel in the U.S. Air Force after 31 years, serving during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star, the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Services Commendation Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaves. He earned a law degree and an English degree which he used as a teacher in Vietnam at the University of Saigon. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Kathleen. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Cornerstone Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Scarborough officiating. Burial will be in Andersonville National Cemetery.
