A native of Barrow County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late John D. and Lenora Kellum Smith. He was an army veteran and a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Tenny officiating. Survivors include a sister, Frances Pruett, Statham; and two brothers, Joe Smith, Winder, and David Truman Smith, Monroe. The family will see friends after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Edmonds was a daughter of the late Millard Hart and Bessie Horton Griffith, and was the widow of Roy Edmonds. She was retired from Chipman-Union Manufacturing and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Colon Duncan officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanet Mize Johnson, Union Point; a son, Hubert Mize, Union Point; a brother, Calvin Griffith, Greensboro; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. H e was a self-employed painter and served in the Army Reserve and National Guard. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Jerrell Beatty officiating. He was a past master of Bogart Masonic Lodge 507, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. at Lord and Stephens Chapel, West, with the Revs. Charles Jones and Jim Bolton officiating.
