A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Vaughn was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mary Stubblefield Carlan and the wi dow of Garnett E. Vaughn. She was a homemaker and member of Bethany Christian Church. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Bethany Christian Church with Jerry Payne officiating.The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was a kindergarten para-professional at Royston Elementary School and was a member of the Vanna United Methodist Church. She was treasurer of the U.M.W. and memorial fund and a member of the Adult II Sunday School class. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Scott was a son of the late Samuel Arthur and Fannie Smith Scott and was the widower of Erma Adams Scott. He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church, where he served as Treasurer for 32 years, was a member of the Mens Sunday School Class and was a former deacon. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served for 3 12 years in the Pacific Theatre. He was a mail carrier and past commander of the American Legion. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Leon Miller and Crate Murphy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Sartain was born in Madison County, November 15, 1916 daughter of the late E.P. Carey and the late Molly Sexton Carey. Mrs. Sartain was a homemaker and a member of the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. Her husband was the late Doyle Saratin. Survivors include: sons and daughters in law, Waymon and Mary Sue Sartain, Hartwell, Glenn and Shelby Sartain, Danielsville, Mitchell and Malinda Sartain, Colbert; 4 grandchildren, Glenda Gibson, Hartwell, Molly Parham, Royston, Todd Sartain and John Sartain, both of Colbert; 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Benson Carey, Oakboro, N.C. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Cleo, Chester and Coy Carey; and by three sisters: Trella Harper, Effie Miller and Bertie Bragg. A native of Madison County, Mr. Murray was the son of the late William John Ellis and Ida Brewer Murray. He had lived in the Athens area for the past 60 years and retired from Chicopee Mills. He was a member of East Athens Baptist Church and was predeceased by his wife, Daisy Lucille Doster Murray. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Thursday in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East. Rev. David Shelley and Don Leaptrott will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Roger F. and Linda Murray of Athens; four granddaughters and grandsons in law, Donna and Lamar Palmer of Cartersville, Denise and Wayne Uzzel of Snellville, Debra and Eddie Freeman and Delyn and Dale Bailey, all of Lawrenceville; a sister, Pauline Crowe of Oconee Co.; and twelve great grandchildren.
