William Andrew Jennings, Sr., the youngest of eleven children born to Dea. and Sis. Alfred (Eliza) Jennings in Jackson County, GA, August 29, 1926, was called home by God, Tuesday, May 9, 2000. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 13 from the Poplar Spring Baptist Church, Jefferson, GA at 1 p.m. The body will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Before entering the U.S. Army, he married the lovely Emma Louise Daniel of Jefferson, GA on February 3, 1945. To this union three sons were born. He joined the Poplar Spring Baptist Church as a young man and was licensed to preach December 21, 1958 and ordained September 14, 1961. He served both the Springfield Baptist Church, Athens, and Gum Spring Baptist Church, Winder as assistant pastor. He served Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Clarksville, GA, Piney Grove Baptist Church, Comer, GA, Kings Branch Baptist Church, Carnesville, GA as pastor. He has pastored the Gholston Baptist Church, Comer, GA for the past 29 years. He leaves to mourn his passing a devoted wife, Emma Louise Daniel Jennings, three sons, William (Dianne) Jennings, Jr., Mt. Juliet, TN; Marvin (Mattie) Jennings, Hull, GA; and Tommy Jennings, Union City, GA; six grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. His loving parents, Dea. & Sis. Alfred (Eliza) Jennings, Sr., preceded him in passing along with four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Knox, Annie Lee Jennings, Elease Hayes, Emma Lyle; two brothers, Mr. Cleveland Jennings and Columbus Jennings. He leaves to mourn two sisters, Mrs. Chestie Studivant, Jefferson, GA and Mrs. Essie Espy, Montclair, NJ; one brother, Mr. Alfred (Sarah) Jennings, Cincinnati, OH; a devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Sims, Gainesville, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.
