A native of Hayesville, N.C., Mrs. Corn was a daughter of the late George Washington Cherry and Myrt Hunt Cherry and was the widow of Thomas Maxwell ''Max'' Corn. She attended Asheville Normal Teachers College and taught school in North Carolina prior to her marriage. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and taught at Ringgold Elementary School for several years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Ringgold United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Joy Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.
